Not for the first time tonight, Scaramouche’s cheeks warmed, and he tried to look anywhere but Childe’s deep blue eyes, but it was impossible when they were practically pressed against each other. He felt incredibly small when he quietly asked, “What are you doing?”
“Acting like an adult,” Childe replied, like it was a proper explanation. Scaramouche sucked in a breath when he felt fingers creeping along the skin of his hip, teasing at the waistband of his shorts. “That’s what you wanted, right?”

After six years, Scaramouche and Childe cross paths again, this time as counselors for the summer camp they met at when they were in middle school.
It’s only two months. What could possibly happen?

“Stop shaking,” he says, wiping the child’s forehead with the damp cloth. She’s far more ill than he expected—her skin burns, the heat of it radiating through the fabric, and she’s too thin to be healthy. She coughs weakly into her hand, and she almost reminds him of—He looks away. He won’t allow himself to think about that. “You aren’t dead yet, and I’m not planning to kill you, either.”
The child stills immediately—as much as she can, at least, with the chill of fever still wracking her frail body—and Scaramouche only has a moment to feel some odd, foreign emotion build in his chest.
Scaramouche despises humans.
Unfortunately, Dottore's newest test subject is a sickly child barely clinging to life.
