‘Well, that’s Val’s thing,’ Angel says, careful not to bad-mouth his boss, nor be disagreeable. He thumbs the rim of his glass. ‘What else were ya expectin’?’
Vox tilts his head. Those red eyes settle on him from the other side of the balcony, as if in answer. Angel feels something kindle in his chest.
Angel dares think, with a small thrill, did Valentino… not perform as well as he did?
