If Kate were to think of the future it would be with Teddy and Billy staying the same stable force in the universe they always had been. Married, maybe with some kids or maybe traveling the multiverse. Together, all the same. They were a universal constant if Kate had ever seen one. “Anyway, you said our neighbor stole his ex’s dog?”
“Yeah, she hired me to get him back.”
“The dog or the ex?”
“The dog.”
“You know what you’re doing, right?” Teddy asked with a spark in his eyes and Kate shook out the long sleeves of Billy’s sweatshirt just enough to cover the heels of her hands before grabbing the mug again, a drop sloshing over the edge and landing on the sleeve. Kate swore but Teddy shrugged as though it were no big deal. “You’re totally playing Elle Woods.”
Kate groaned. “Legally Blonde, really?”
