Sonia paused at those words, staring up at the statue that towered over them all.
She didn’t know.
Did Gran even realize the extent of what she asked of her? ‘Look into the Darkest Day’. What did that even mean? It was impossibly vague, yet vaguely possible- It was easy to ask someone else to do, but difficult to do yourself. It was infuriating.
It wasn't like she had much say in the matter, though.She turned back to the two of them and grinned.

Summary
There were numerous rumors making their rounds through the clusters of campers and school kids in Kanto. Rumors of incredibly strong, powerful, and mythical Pokemon that hid themselves from prying eyes. Some you could only obtain by beating the Elite Four one hundred times without losing. Others claimed you had to break into Bill’s garden, where he (for some reason) had kept them all cooped up. Others declared that the 151st Pokemon was real, you just had to stick your hand under an old, decrepit truck by the Vermillion City docks to find it.
Most of these rumors ended with said trainers getting a stern talking to from Officer Jenny about breaking and entering, or the same trainers getting their fingers cut on rusty machinery.

Summary
In one fateful summer, Jasmine (a shy girl who wishes to become a master of Steel type Pokémon) falls in love two times. “Wait,” says Laios suddenly. “Look at her teeth!”
“Yes, Laios,” says Izutsumi. “We’ve all noticed the fangs. This really isn’t the time—”
“No,” says Laios, “those back teeth. She has molars- grinders. That means she’s an omnivore. But she can’t leave this circle, and you saw how nothing ventures within miles of this spot. I bet she hasn’t had anything other than…” he swallows, waving a hand vaguely at the pile of ex-adventurers, “...meat… for years .”
“So…what?” asks Izutsumi.
“Remember how good those marshmallows were?” asks Laios. “And that was only after a couple days without much of a varied diet.”
“You want to bet all of our lives,” Chilchuck says slowly, “on making a Sphinx a nice dessert?”
