Summary
The Amazing Digital Circus. A place of limitless questions, never answered. Except there were two beings who were there from the start. The Creator and the Creation. King and Ringmaster. Kinger and Caine. They were the only ones who knew why the circus was created... and where it all went so wrong.
...At least, they should have known. But the code rewrote itself beyond recognition, allowing emotions and feelings to emerge in a digital heart. A tool became a person, it became self aware, became happy, angry, aware of its own desires... aware of its limits.
And with it, everything warped and twisted, spun and broke, until even they couldn't understand what had happened. Still, guilt and loathing found its way, bottled up for years, just waiting to explode.

After getting deleted, Caine ends up in the computer's recycling bin, and the crew realize that to keep the circus running, they need to get him back. They set out on an adventure to try and find him, but learn they will have to make their way through the cellar to reach the recycling bin. In the meantime, Caine is experiencing some very human emotions like,
"whoops that's guilt" and "why can't i do anything right", not to mention "I am so hungry for love and praise it makes me stupid"

Caine, the host of the Digital Circus, has his own purpose. To create adventures, to entertain his audience, and to care for the human lives under his care. He had a problem though, a few of them actually.
AIs weren't supposed to feel.
AIs weren't suppose to care.
AIs weren't supposed to have favourites.

Summary
Pomni has never been a fan of Caine. He's loud, overbearing, oblivious to the pain his torturous adventures caused, and the overall cause of Pomni's pain and suffering in the virtual world. Only four adventures in, and she has enough trauma to last a lifetime.
Caine is an AI, after all. Pomni doesn't think he even cares about anything other than his adventures.
And that made it all the more shocking that when an escaped Abstraction attempts to attack Pomni, she finds herself being pushed out of the way by the dreaded ringmaster himself, taking the hit for her as he tells her to run.
She soon realizes that there's more to Caine than she thought.
