Henry raises an eyebrow. “Alexander? Did I miss something last night?”
Pez chuckles. “Honey, Alexander Claremont-Diaz is my college son, freshly imported from the States.”
“God, I’m glad I didn’t sign up to be a college parent—I can already imagine the absolute delight someone with a last name like that will be,” Henry comments as he takes another sip from the bottle next to him.
“Ah, Mr Fox-Mountchristen,” Pez enunciates jokingly and Henry mumbles a “touché” from the bed, “I’ve got a good feeling about this Alexander, you just wait and see.”

When Alex had finally been shoved in front of a grumpy-looking clerk, he had had a long time to imagine how the conversation would go. First, a barked question (‘Name?’), then his grinned reply (‘Wouldn’t you like to know?’). A punch to the face. Back to the start. What he hadn’t anticipated was that his burly guard would overdo the fist to his temple, and he would find himself suddenly regaining consciousness with a mouthful of musty straw in a cell without even remembering how he got there. Goddammit. He had one job. Memorize the way to the cells. Not run his mouth. Alright, there had been several directives.
A pirate. A prince. A daring rescue mission. This is that part of every fairytale that we look forward to most, with our favourite soft boys as main characters.
