Summary
Amurael’s eyes flicked up to Abaddon’s face. As always, it was an unreadable mask of stoic calm, as if the grotesque spike skewering his body was little more than an inconvenience. Yet Amurael noticed the subtle tells that others might miss—the pale cast of his lips, pressed into a hard, thin line; the faint shadows beneath his eyes, darker and deeper than usual. The blood loss had taken its toll, and while Abaddon might appear invincible, even he could not entirely shrug off such wounds.
