“You’ll only get yellow-carded if you keep this up.” Otoya says slowly. He’s never been one to stop a fight, but the thought of Karasu getting hurt on his behalf stirs up a painful ache in his chest. “The game still needs to continue, remember?”
Otoya is Karasu's greatest weapon, but nobody ever mentions how he's also his greatest weakness.

He could recognize that voice anywhere. Even if it was dressed in a standard cafe uniform, waiting behind the counter and staring right at him. He sees the word “trainee” first and “Otoya” second, and somewhere in between his second and third mini crisis, he notices the chipped green nails and silver rings adorning his fingers.
Otoya raises a pierced brow at his internal meltdown.
“Uh, dude? I know you’re stunned by my devilishly good looks and untouchable aura, but you’re holding up the line.”

A lot has changed for Peridot the last few years, but at least one thing stays constant: when she's determined to do something, she's going to give it her absolute best shot. Whether it's inspecting 500 near-identical Rubies in a Kindergarten, stopping the Cluster, trying to make Lapis Lazuli smile, or building Little Homeworld, Peridot has a tendency to throw everything she has into it.
Still, even the most determined of Peridots needs to take a break occasionally.
This is a story about Peridot learning how to take a nap. Really.
