Akihiko’s eyes widen at the sudden question, and Haruki almost can’t believe he asked that either. He watches Akihiko’s face contort with surprise, then shock, then pain.
His expression hardens. He can’t help it as the deep feelings of insecurity begin to resurface in his chest. Not when Akihiko practices the violin more relentlessly than he practices the drums, not when Akihiko occasionally loses touch with reality and goes somewhere Haruki can’t follow.
And especially not when he looks at Murata Ugetsu with a rare twinkle in his eyes, his ears perking up at the faintest sound of his playing.
