Summary
The hope was that Vecna was dead, because a portal to Hell splitting Hawkins down the middle was a kinder reality than the one they lived in. Max had woken up, after all, so maybe miracles do happen, and whatever took place during Spring Break was the end of it. Luck was never on their side, though.
The anniversary of Will's disappearance looms over them, like a guillotine in the form of a ticking clock. They knew well enough that all it takes is one night for everything to go wrong. The crawl goes off-script, Hopper is M.I.A., and the Wheeler's house is in ruin.
Maybe what they need is a return to form; maybe Will needs to go back there, to the Upside Down, himself, to get the answers they're looking for.
Or;
The events of November 1987 are retold through the eyes of The Party, because it should have ended how it started.

Summary
There was a buzzing sound, and a beep, before the same words sounded again:
“—all me back. I miss hearing your voice. I miss you.”
Another buzz, then again: “—still here… anyway, call me back. I miss hearing your voice. I miss you.”
Joyce realised with a terrible lurch to her heart that Will hadn’t called Mike. He wasn’t finally speaking to him again—it was a cassette tape. A cassette tape of Mike’s voice, a recording from what must’ve been the end of a missed phone call, and he was replaying Mike’s last sentence over and over. I miss hearing your voice. I miss you.
When Joyce first saw Mike at five years old—a sweet, caring little thing, jumping to Will’s aid without a second thought—she’d never thought it would end up like this.
Or; Byler from Joyce’s perspective

"He refused to remember anything, to remember a world after Will. He didn't want there to be a world after Will.
Apparently, his subconscious decided that the best way to avoid that was to surround himself with Will.
He assumed that's why he was now in his basement."Or: Will "dies" and Mike has the biggest crashout the world has ever seen.

Summary
What would happen if Will Byers was never found during the events of Stranger Things season 1? How would he survive the upside down? How would the people of Hawkins react?
Will breathed in a ragged breath. Black smoke poured from his mouth as he tore himself free from the wall. He collapsed forward, coughing and gasping on the cold, moist floor.
His heart pounded in his ears as he shakily scrambled to his feet. Eyes darting around the abyss, he started to run. And he ran, and ran, and ran.
His feet pounded on the ground when suddenly he found himself on a familiar path. Finally, something familiar. Will sprinted through the woods, as a feeling of hope filtered its way through the panic. He was getting there, he was gonna be safe, it was finally within reach.
Castle Byers.
The pain in his chest and legs screamed at him to rest, but he couldn't risk stopping. He pushed himself further, calves aching with each step. Suddenly, a loud screech echoed through the air from somewhere up ahead.
Will skidded to a stop as the monster moved on the path ahead. It was in the way, standing between him and safety.- Language:

Summary
Moments ago, he’d never kissed anyone, and now he’s straddling the boy he’s in love with, moving his mouth on instinct, forcing his body down so that he doesn’t float away. He keeps thinking, I’m so fucked, I’m in trouble, I’m in such deep shit, a giddy running commentary that means nothing, really, because with whom would he be in trouble, and why? Mike? God? The world? Himself?
One of Mike’s hands cards through his hair, nails scratching scalp, and Will feels like he’s dissolving, like he’s cotton candy on Mike’s tongue.
Belatedly, Will gestures at the lamp. “Should I—”
“Keep it on,” Mike says in a firm, heady baritone that hits Will like liquor, and pulls Will back in by the roots of his hair.
Or,
After the MAC-Z, Will and Mike share the mattress in the Wheelers’ basement. Mike finally follows his instincts. Will tries not to have a stroke about it.
