Surprisingly it’s Roy who breaks the silence, “How did you remember my phone number? It’s been two years-”
“17 months.”
Roy continues without acknowledging him, “- since we last saw each other.” Ed opens his mouth and Roy cuts him off, “No, that time you came to return all of the books you had forgotten to the military library does not count.” He makes sure to emphasize the forgotten part, they both knew Ed had kept them on purpose.
“That definitely counts! We saw each other.”
“I was in an important meeting and you harassed my new secretary until she let you in.”
“That one’s on you. Anyone else would have known who I was and let me in.”
Roy lets out a breath. “I honestly should have known when they told me someone was asking for Colonel Mustang.”
“Whoops?” Ed’s grinning, “Must have forgot about that big promotion. Or two.”
