Summary
Three minutes without air, three days without water, three weeks without food. These were the limits of human survival that Thancred had drilled into him from his tutors in Sharlayan, preparation for the difficult life in the wilderness that espionage may require. Through careful training he had extended his need for air to nearly ten minutes, and he needn’t worry about food, not yet at least. Water, though. There was nothing one could do to alter that fundamental need. Three days before the body begins to shut down, organs fail, blood stagnates. Without aid, unconsciousness and death soon follow.
Thancred was nearing the end of day number four.
