Summary
“Hi, Shane,” she says, pressing a kiss to his cheek. If it weren’t for the angry scratch marks on her shoulder, it would look like she hadn't been in a fight at all.
“Hey Sveta,” Shane replies with a fond, if exasperated, smile. “It’s good to see you.”
The pieces fall into place. Boston girl. Russian speaker. Familiar and affectionate with Shane, who is not a very touchy-feely guy, but doesn’t seem to mind when it comes from her.
Hayden’s connecting the dots.
(After witnessing an interaction in a club in Boston, Hayden's sure he's figured out Boston Lily's true identity: Svetlana Vetrova).

Summary
It’s nice, having a husband. Even nicer when the doctor leaves and Ilya turns to hold him properly, wrapping both arms around his shoulders, eyes gooey and soft as he looks at Shane like something treasured.
Shane can’t tell him. He can’t lose this, the way Ilya is looking at him, the ease in how he touches Shane, his husband. No amount of lights shining in his eyes or shouting at the top of his lungs would hurt as much as seeing Ilya’s expression shutter, seeing his face look like it did at Sochi, cold and closed off and not Shane’s anything.
(OR: Shane wakes up in the future and realizes he has everything he's ever wanted. He doesn't tell anyone he's missing a decade worth of memories as he comes back to himself in pieces.)

“Did you like them? My parents?”
Ilya squints at him. “I love them,” he says simply, like it should be obvious. “They’re your parents.”
But, Shane thinks idly, there's a difference, isn't there, between loving them and liking them?
(5 times Shane thinks Ilya doesn't like his parents and 1 time he finds out the truth)

Summary
“Hollander,” Rozanov says.
Shane can’t look at him. Instead, he notices the lamps. There’s so many of them just in his line of sight. Ilya must never have to use the overhead lights in this house. During the day, there’s the sun. And at night, the softness of the low light, just enough to see by. Shane imagines being able to sit here, after dark, a game in the background, the scene lit by nothing but the gentle glow of a few lamps. He imagines falling asleep soothed by hands softly carding through his hair and a heartbeat pulsing under his jawbone. It makes him feel domestic. It makes him feel like he does with a cold can of ginger ale in his hands.
He needs to leave.
“Hollander,” Ilya says.
(OR: tuna melt fix-it with shane and ilya and lamps)

Summary
“I’m sorry I’m not him,” Shane says, looking away.
“Who?”
“Future me. Whoever you fell in love with.” What’s unsaid hangs in the air: whoever fell in love with you. Because this Shane – 2010 Shane – doesn’t love him. Is amused by their daily lessons, comforted by his presence, even grateful. But love?
“That’s the thing, Shane,” Ilya says. His eyes are shining. “You are, right now, exactly who I fell in love with.”
In 2031, Shane wakes up in the hospital certain that it's 2010. Ilya is there to remind him of the two decades he's missed and the life they've built along the way.

Summary
Adam just nodded entreatingly. “Yeah, for sure. We’ll just leave that blank as well.” He scanned the page. “Here’s an easy one, brief description of the business?”
“Um…” Ronan trailed off.“Tell you what,” Adam’s mouth twisted into a smile and he clicked his pen. “How about you take this home,” he gestured down to the form. “And you can fill it out when you have a better idea of what you want to do with your business.”
“I know what I’m doing with my business,” Ronan said gruffly.
“Oh, so you’ve settled on a name then?”
(In which Ronan Lynch wants to renovate the Henrietta General Store to piss of his brother and maybe finds something amazing along the way)

Summary
‘There’s not a… sixteenth fear entity emerging, is there?’ asked Martin.
‘What? No. Of course not,’ said Peter, frowning. ‘I need you to go and visit Elias and deliver a message from me.’
‘Um,’ said Martin. This sounded worse, actually.
Martin had thought isolating himself from the rest of the world and reading horrible statements about the end of humanity was the worst his job as Peter's assistant could throw at him. It turned out he was very, very wrong.

Summary
Much to Elias’ dismay, Jon doesn’t actually want to be an Archivist.
Also… well, as Georgie put it: “There are only two situations where you’d say someone ‘died in the line of duty’: if they were actually a literal soldier, or else if you’re a serial killer and you’re not actually that committed to pretending you didn’t kill them. Unless Gertrude died in a top-secret war that’s going on in the basement of the Magnus Institute, I see only one option here.”
Jon glared, but Georgie shrugged. “Sorry, Jon, I just call it like I see it. Your boss is a serial killer and you’re next on his hit list. Probably best not to take his creepy cursed job position.”
~
In which Jon and Georgie are flatmates, the archives crew rock their dysfunction to the fullest, and the only thing that resembles canon is the way absolutely no one is cishet.
