Summary
Dean’s been a regular Soother at the maternity ward in Brodstone Memorial Hospital for a few years now. He comes in late, after work; after dinner and dessert been served and put away. After everyone's asleep and no one can ask probing, annoying, little brother-esque questions about what he’s doing and why he’s given up on finding his own mate–his own pack. He likes it, volunteering at the hospital, where’s he’s needed, it soothes something inside of him. He sincerely hopes that he's helping these pups just as much as they're helping him. And right now, that’s all he’s willing to ask for.

Summary
Dean Winchester didn't consider himself much of an omega. He avoided dating alphas and he'd taken heat suppressants since he'd presented, so it wasn't an issue--until he learned suppressants were affecting his heart and he'd have to stop taking them. His doctor recommended a medical match website to solicit an alpha's assistance during his breakthrough heats to minimize stress on his heart, and that was how he met Castiel Novak.
Castiel wasn't a typical alpha. He had hypothyroidism, a low hormone disorder that left him with mild ruts and a scent many found unsettling. He'd long written off the idea of finding a compatible mate, though his doctor had begun to push services that matched alphas and omegas to help combat the progression of his disorder. Castiel's brother showed up one night carrying the scent of mate, and that was how his relationship with Dean Winchester started.
...or Not Relationship. Because Dean made it clear he didn't date alphas, and Castiel wouldn't tell Dean they scent bonded during the first shared heat because they were true mates.
Castiel isn't like any alpha Dean has known, but Dean isn't ready to let his guard down until his heart makes it clear he has no other choice.

Summary
Thrift shops are not for the poor, they are for the very poor and desperate. Who would want pre-owned clothes that smell like someone else, that no matter how many times you wash them, they never lose the original owner's scent? Someone who doesn’t have any other options, someone like Castiel.
However, one day, in the lead-up to Christmas, he catches the scent of an alpha (who smells exactly like apple pie) on a $3 second-hand trench coat, that makes him do stupid things.
In a world where alphas are given all the advantages of life, there aren’t many options for omegas. It is either find an alpha to support you or live a life well below the poverty line. Castiel had chosen the second option. It seemed noble at first, but after a decade on his own, life continues to wear him down.
All that changes when he meets the jacket's original owner (and promptly throws up on him), causing him to rethink his decision.
