'There is no changing the will of StarClan’, her temporary mentor Knollwhisker had told her time and time again in the nights leading up to this moment.
Hollowkit, named as all kittens destined to be medicine cats are, leaves her birth Clan, BranchClan, for the open air and new customs of CoastClan, to serve StarClan as a medicine apprentice there. Soon to be called Urchinpaw, she will learn to adapt to a new culture, new friends (and foes!), and discover her place in the world. However, shadows loom in the darkness of the endless water, turning the sands against her Clan.

A flicker of genuine irritation crossed Armand’s face. “Hardly,” he said, his voice dropping back into its familiar, cool register. He placed the book he was holding on a table with a soft, definitive thud. “Given the sheer number of men I watched you take to cheap motel rooms and parked cars during your marriage, I would say your sexuality, Daniel, proved to be remarkably resilient. It found its way back to its true nature soon enough.”
