Summary
In the privacy of his own head, Essek marveled at the family the Mighty Nein had found in each other. A handful of people, seemingly with very little in common, and they had forged their own path, together.
The problem with that strong sense of family the Mighty Nein shared, though, was how incredibly difficult it was to get someone on their own. Such as Caleb, to pick a completely random example.(or, Essek really just wants a minute of privacy with Caleb. It takes a lot of trial, and even more error.)

A clamour of voices erupted.
“We’re invited to a ball? Do we get to buy fancy-”
“Why are you having a ball-”
“We are the worst people you could’ve invited.”(or, the Nein are invited to a ball, and Essek doesn't seem happy about the whole idea of a ball to begin with. Caleb wants to know what's up, because of course he does)

Caleb was a creature of habit - the dome, the wire, the arm scratching, the constant running.
So they met in the library, as had become the habit.

Summary
And Shane wants to let go. He wants to let go so bad, but he can’t help but feel like something bad will happen if he does, that the universe is somehow going to punish him for this, that everyone will be able to read this submission on his face and deprive him of everything he worked so hard for.
As if reading his mind: “Just us in here,” says Rozanov, glancing around for emphasis, voice a solid, anchoring whisper.
God, Shane wants. Shane wants so much that it hurts, makes his whole body ache with emptiness, and what he wants more than anything after to be held and pushed into – by Rozanov – is to listen and submit – to Rozanov. He wants Rozanov, and it should be scary, but all he feels right now is a want, an impenetrable need that makes him swallow around glass shards stuck in his throat and slowly put his palms flush on the floor in front of his knees, watching Rozanov like he’s in a trance.

Summary
“This is hard to talk about,” is all he says, though he knows it will amount to nothing.
Shane’s fingertips are feather-soft on his chest. “You have to.”
He has to, because Shane and Ilya have this thing, now, this agreement. Nothing is too hard to talk about. Nothing is off limits. They have to be bare, have to surrender the deepest crevice of their soul to one another. And Ilya, for whom this is easier said than done, whose chest carries a perpetual weight, an immovable mass, it’s all worth it – worth the relief smoothing over Shane’s features, the reassurance that he’s not worried anymore, that Ilya can give him this peace, albeit only a fragment of what Shane gives him by just being there when he wakes up. He would never say it, but he thinks that what he has to offer to Shane amounts to nothing – nothing compared to what Shane does, what Shane is, by simply nuzzling into his chest and sighing into his sleep, late at night when all Ilya can do is lay awake and just feel.
“I need more,” Ilya says. “And is nothing you can do. I need you inside me, and it feels terrible.” He swallows, with great difficulty. God. “I need to– I need to eat you.”

Summary
“Hollander’s Metros have had a challenging few years, with back-to-back knee injuries and a concussion keeping the two-time Stanley Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist off the ice for three consecutive postseason runs. Hollander is apparently back to fighting trim, but everyone’s wondering if that will still be true come April. The Metros have promised that they’re behind their franchise star one hundred percent, but there are signs they might be hedging their bets. The Metros announced last week that they have penned a deal with San Francisco’s dynamic young Russian star, center Ilya Rozanov. The move has sent shockwaves through MLH, as San Francisco was widely expected to sign a contract extension with Rozanov, who became a restricted free agent in June.”

Summary
The Swiss National League doesn’t care about the legendary Hollander-Rozanov rivalry. When the MLH can’t negotiate with the Hockey Players’ Union in time to prevent a hockey lockout at the start of the 2015 season, the Zürich Lions jump at the chance to sign both Shane and Ilya to short-term contracts. For four months in Switzerland, they share a team, a line, a house, and a bed.
Then the lockout ends in January, and it’s time to go back. Back to different countries, cities, lives. Beds.
Reentry is harder than expected.
