“You uh, you probably already have… supplies, but just in case I um… here…" Wayne tossed the paper bag at Eddie, hearing the dull thud of the foil packets inside as he caught them. "Hawkins High isn’t a world class education but I trust they taught you how to use those things, eh? Or do I need to grab a couple’a bananas?”
Eddie’s face went white as a sheet as he looked into the bag and saw a newly purchased box of condoms.
“Um, Wayne?” His voice crack was masked by the sound of the paper bag crinkling as he folded the top and set it aside. “What exactly do you think I need these for?”
OR
Wayne wants to make sure Eddie and his new boyfriend are being careful, but Eddie's confused... he doesn't have a boyfriend, does he?

“Well, hi Stevie.” Eddie gave him a soft smile. “It sounded like you both might be having a hard day, I thought maybe I could help?”
“Oh um, I don’t know-”
“Mr. Eddie?” Tabbi squeaked as tears continued to fall from her eyes.
“Hey there Tabbi Cat.” Eddie peered over the car door to come face to face with Tabbi. “Having a hard day, sweetheart?”
The little girl nodded with a frown. “I wanna go with daddy.”
“Ah, I see. Well, Tabbi Cat, I actually need your help today.” Eddie spoke softly. “See, Mr. Gareth brought in a whole drum kit today and we really need someone who knows how to hit a drum really good. Think you might be able to show the other kiddos how it’s done?”
Tabbi sniffled a few times, thinking about what was being asked of her before eventually nodding. “I can help.”

Summary
Eddie’s hair was soft where it fell against his skin. He was tempted to play with it but didn’t want to be creepy, didn’t want to weird him out. Steve couldn’t help but wonder how it would feel tangled in his fingers, what it would look like braided and pulled back from his face. What it would look like sprawled across his bed like a halo.
It was easier when he was driving. There wasn’t much to look at in the backseat beside the long plains of grass outside or the twist of Eddie’s curls.
The issue with all this of course was the fact that Eddie Munson was a boy. Well, a man.
Or: Steve experiences the universal feeling of figuring out your whole life (or at least your sexuality) while looking out the window on a road trip.
