Klavier’s hands were on the steering wheel. The playlist was Top 40 pop drivel. The scenery outside was rock faces dotted with shrubs, occasionally breaking to reveal houses on the other side of the rock, houses and buildings as far as the eye could see. They were driving down to San Diego.
