This is his role alone in the prophecy. But alone means a chance to finally let loose without fear of harming those he is loyal to. He realizes something else, fate rights itself, he hadn’t fallen into the pit in the first quest but he is here now.

Percy wasn't even entirely sure if this was actually his Dad. Or if it was his Dad he would even listen to him considering the sheer lack of absence in his life before now. But that was fine it wasn't really about his Dad hearing him.
It was honestly more about airing some of his frustrations somewhere that he didn't feel like he could get in trouble. Because he didn't want to sound ungrateful for this chance. But...camp was a lot, and he hadn't even been here a full day!
