Melinoe breaks her own code on a night when Time itself stops. She cuts the Titan down, and as her enemy dissolves into sand, Melinoe flickers across the Prince’s old bedroom, hauls the frozen body of Zagreus over her shoulders, and steps into the familiar dark. She does not cry from relief. This is not an emotional task. As the dusky cold of shadows closes over her, Melinoe only allows herself a single moment of surprise: Her brother’s hands are not the soft hands of a prince.
