Summary
“If you’re involved with someone in the department, I need to know.” The attending physician’s voice is seemingly detached but her eyes give her away.
Trinity’s eyes widen just a fraction as she stares at the woman in front of her.
But Baran is pointedly avoiding her eyes now, looking at the R2’s shoulder, her own shoulders tense, her posture stiff and her jaw locked.

Summary
“Like, what if I can’t do this? What if I just can’t fucking do this.”
Garcia doesn’t know what to say so she puts a light hand on Santos’s back, and when she doesn’t reject the touch, Garcia starts to move it up and down and up and down, slow and steady and gentle as she closes the distance between their chairs and leans in close so she can keep her voice low.
“Trinity,” she murmurs, “we both know that’s not true.”
Santos shakes her head again and chokes out an empty laugh. “Fuck off,” she manages, but without any bite behind it, and her bouncing knee is starting to lose steam.
“Make me,” Garcia replies without missing a beat.

Summary
Trinity takes a deep breath, steeling herself. “I was wondering whether I could switch to working night shifts. All the time.”
Abbot raises his eyebrows, not actually looking that surprised. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“Just…” avoiding my ex-not-even-girlfriend? Probably not the best thing to say. “Just looking for a new experience. I feel like I could learn a lot from working nights.”
He stares at her for a moment. It’s a little unnerving, and Trinity feels her back straighten instinctively. Then he smiles, clapping his hands together.
“About time.”

Summary
“Look… I’m offering,” Santos doubles down. “I can drive you home. It’s really not a big deal. No problema.”
That earns a breathless, barely-there laugh from Garcia for some reason, and after a visible deep breath in and out she shifts onto her back to look at Santos, and her cheeks are wet.
“Shit,” Santos mutters,”how long have you been stuck in here?”
“Not long enough, apparently.” Garcia hesitates again before wincing through a wave of pain. “It’ll pass. I’ll be fine.”
But Santos just gives her a look. “Seriously, what's the point of lying to me when you could just let me help?”
Garcia sort of rolls her eyes, but they’re bloodshot and too glassy and the next blink releases a tear that she quickly swipes away.
(They haven't spoken since the Langdon incident, and now Garcia's having a migraine attack, and it turns out they didn't completely destroy whatever This is.)

Summary
“I usually have pretty good judgment,” Garcia continues. “I stay calm, I think clearly, and I make logical choices. But when you came to me with extremely reasonable concerns about someone I’ve worked with for a long time, I snapped at you and shut you down. You deserved patience, and advice, and respect,” Garcia admits, “and I’m sorry.”
Trinity takes a moment to digest all of this, then nods a little, then takes a half-step closer as a sign of trust or whatever. “Thank you,” she says quietly and finds Garcia’s eyes. “I really… I appreciate all of that. Thank you.”
She watches Garcia’s posture relax slightly, then watches Garcia take her own small step forward, then watches Garcia’s expression shift into something that makes Trinity’s breath catch.
“Can I make it up to you with a cocktail?”
