Curt hooks his arms around Owen’s waist, dragging him in close. “What are you doing here, anyway?” He says, throwing out a winning smile—the same one that gets girls to fall over themselves to greet him, that makes Owen roll his eyes and sigh as Curt ropes him into another stupid decision. “Did I beat you to those weapon blueprints, Carvour?”
The searching look disappears. Owen gives a haughty little scoff, but it’s not as infuriating as it should be, not when he’s holding Curt, here. “As if you could.”
“Oh, so you’ve just been lurking around weapon facilities in the Soviet Union for shits and giggles?”
Something flashes behind Owen’s eyes. So fast Curt almost misses it. Owen’s gaze cuts away before Curt can search further. “Maybe so. It’s not like you ever see me on my offtime, love.”

They shift their weight, looking directly at the glass and stepping closer, where the light is. Cait squints, watching the light illuminate their face, the curve of their nose, the crook of their jaw—and then suddenly she’s dropping her gun and scrambling over the bed, heart thudding, head spinning, throwing the sliding door open so violently for a moment she thinks she’s shattered the glass.
Behind it, stands Olwen Carvour.
“Evening, love,” she says softly. And then Cait takes Olwen’s face in her hands, and kisses her.

"You were afraid of me.”
Owen shouldn't say anything. Any answer he could give would only hurt him more. But now he's thinking of the way Curt's face crumpled when he reached out and Owen jerked back like his touch was fire, and of another man's back turned to him as the world burst into endless pain, and of the hands fisted in his shirt right before they pushed him into the dreamt-dark of the ocean—and suddenly, Curt worried gaze looks a lot like the same pitying eyes they gave him when he first woke up in a medical unit, and he asked for his partner.
What a strange sensation it is, to feel so much like an explosive, all the time. His blood thrumming with its energy, always moments away from sparking into uncontrolled violence at the gentlest push. He's so tired of the way it fills his head with this crackling, impatient noise—the way the world seems to warp around him—the way his heart feels like it's slipping out through his ribs.
His voice is too sharp when he says, firm and unflinching: "I was."

"Well I like you enough to dick you down," Curt says, the words leaving his mouth before he can actually think about them, and feeling his face immediately go red once he processes his own statement. Owen’s eyes go wide as moons—a sight that would be funny in any other circumstance. He turns on his heel. "So I definitely like you enough to want you to stay alive. If you could just let me help you—"
“No—no—oh, bloody hell—” There’s skittering, as if Owen’s trying to push himself to his feet and failing miserably. “Please, Curt.”

owen's hurt. and he won't let curt take him to the hospital for whatever reason, so curt has to try his best to patch him up. but, hey! maybe they'll get a chance to work out some of their other issues, too.
