Steve thinks they’re all overreacting.
Like, he understands why—if he gets another concussion graded higher than 0 he’s fucked, and there he was, having spent his whole life trying his damnedest to get as high above a zero wherever grades were involved; life was so fucking weird—but he didn’t even blink longer than normal this time, Jesus H. Christ.
But now—having slipped the grasps of the whole med team after getting the okay on his noggin—Steve was definitely alone in the locker room. And yet: the distinct sound of the ice bath being prepped is somehow echoing through.
He follows the noise; doesn’t exactly want some rando who waltzed in catching him stark naked on their TikTok Live or whatever.
The source of the sound, though, once Steve rounds the last corner toward it, isn’t a rando at all. Not even close.
“Ice first, babe.”

Or, it really doesn’t matter where either of them are, or what it is that’s gone wrong. Doesn’t matter how bad or not-bad it is, whatever it may be.

Summary
“Goddamn,” Eddie kind of shouts, but kind of growls; he’s not entirely in control of the way his voice is shaping words. “You little twits talked about him like a minor god when I first met you, and then here you are, all,” he gestures wildly at the gathered…all of them before he asks maybe the question with the actual point:
“Do you even know whether you love him or you hate him?”
In their defense, after they stop being stunned-silent, they start looking fucking angry. Dustin looks downright appalled.
“What?”

Or: Steve Harrington isn’t just the best thing to happen to Eddie Munson. He’s kinda the best fucking thing, period. And the fact that he doesn’t seem to realize it, himself? Is a fucking tragedy.
So, yeah: Eddie sure as hell does make it his single-minded mission to ensure everyone around them makes a point to stop talking shit and let Steve know what he means; how much he is loved.
Because all of Eddie’s own—perfectly valid—biases about his absolute revelation of a boyfriend aside: it’s literally the least these dipshits can do.
