They’d gotten Billy out of the wreckage (before he burned up, even), they even got his bleeding stopped on the way to the hospital (though he lost a lung in the process)—but if the Mindflayer was gonna die, apparently it was gonna take Billy Hargrove with it.
Even after he dies, though, he isn’t really gone, and strange things happen in Hawkins.

Summary
***I STARTED THIS IN 2021. Since then I have seen a lot of people attempting to copy it even using some of my original character, names, phrasing, etc. THIS is the original story.****Mentions of past child abuse. Occasional: manhandling, mild slurs. ***WARNING: CH 25 "Goober" Contains Graphic Scenes of Abuse***
Susan and Neil are dead. Billy is 20 at the start and Max is 15. Story covers their lives (eventual Harringrove but more about relationship than sex) over a period of several years, if you read all of it...but if you don't, I understand. :p
The original story is contained in Chapters 2 - 10. Those have more of the original cast, and involve monster hunting, etc.. (Chapter 2 was posted first as a stand alone, which is why it's so long.)
After that there are requests, prompts, etc and just things I wrote because I got an idea.
IF you want to read this giant meandering thing in chronological order, refer to chapter 1 -- and then save Drabbles and Summer nights for after, if you are still wanting more.

Summary
It broke through in the spring of 1987.
It's been eight years since the invasion, eight years since the Mind Flayer ripped apart the world they knew and made every day a battle for survival. No one knows that better than Steve Harrington, one of the leaders of the last humans alive - and the only reason they've all made it this far. When the survivors need to send someone into the Upside Down to retrieve essential supplies, there's no one better suited for the job than Steve. All he needs to do is get in and out, avoiding demodogs where he can and killing them when he can't.
He's not expecting to find anyone else alive in there. After all, no one has ventured into the Upside Down since Billy Hargrove sacrificed his life to close the gate ten years ago...
