    Summary

    “SecUnit?” she whispered.

The person lying on the bunk across from her did not respond.

    “…Murderbot?”

Of course it didn’t respond. It was shut down, completely gone from the feed. The only thing alive about SecUnit right now was its organic tissue. Still, she couldn’t help but entertain the tiny shred of hope that if she called its name, it would open its eyes and look at her with that soft, world-weary expression it so often wore.

Mensah is reeling in the aftermath of the killware attack. Turns out Murderbot is not the only one who suffered a catastrophic systems failure.

    Summary

The plan had one obvious flaw.

Without my ART memories I wouldn't know that I needed to get those memories back from Gurathin. I wouldn't remember sending them to him. Which meant trusting Gurathin to realize what had happened and fix it for me.

    Fucking Gurathin.

I would like to shout out "An Unexpected Quarter" by i_have_loved_the_stars_too_fondly and the "NULLverse" series by flipspring for inspiring elements of this story.

    Summary

I'm sure there was a better way to deal with this SecUnit than to jump into space without a full EVAC suit and try to punch it, but that was the best I had. I had to protect my humans, even if those humans included Gurathin. They also included Ratthi, so it was worth it.
Me and the other SecUnit are both equally clueless on how to fight in the vacuum of space, for better or for worse. Better being winning, worse being lost in the vacuum of space as I slowly die.
Gurathin and Ratthi wouldn't risk their lives getting me back, would they?

Gurathin wasted one whole second to lift his gaze to me. He looked like he knew he was about to die. I always knew he was an idiot.
    Two seconds left.
One second to twist my own helmet off.
Another to bring it down over Gurathin’s head and seal. His shocked expression would have been pretty funny in other circumstances, but I saved it to permanent storage, just in case.
The outer door popped open, and the three of us were thrown out of the airlock.

Alternative POVs as SecUnit, Ratthi and Gurathin process a mission gone terribly wrong, and what it means to love, trust, and express those feelings to oneself and each other.

Murderbot goes to an academic conference... about planets.

PresAux is finally going to present their survey research, and Murderbot doesn't want them to go to a new place alone. It has a surprisingly okay time.

(And, all right, there's something else at this conference it maybe, reluctantly, wants to see.)

“ART,” I said the moment I entered its airlock. “Would you marry me?”

    Are you asking? it replied.

    “No, dumbass. Hypothetically.”

    ---

Turns out marriage comes with more advantages than just housing and tax benefits: it can also get you out of uncomfortable situations!
