Pre-series AU.
There on the floor of the tiny space is a large, fully grown man, his knees pushed up to his chest. Clean towels are unfurling at his shoulders, and individually wrapped toilet paper rolls are pooled at his feet. It is an odd situation that only gets odder when Lorelai realizes that this person, this trespasser, is angry at her.
“You know,” he all but growls, “you really shouldn’t put so much stuff on these shelves. It’s a death trap waiting to happen.”
She looks him up and down pointedly. “Yes, I’ve heard that being crushed by towels is the second-leading cause of death in America, right between cancer and heart disease.”

I slept with Buck, he imagines saying out loud. To Bobby, probably. Bobby gives good advice, always listens carefully, like it matters. Doesn't judge, at least not out loud.
Gave. Bobby gave good advice. Bobby is never going to look at Eddie across the big table at the station loft with a faintly amused expression on his face while he tells Eddie something that Eddie deep down already knew.
I slept with Buck. I don't know what to do.
Bobby would raise his eyebrows and say, Well, maybe you should talk to him.

Eddie didn’t text back in the 20 seconds Buck spent staring at his phone, which was no surprise. There wasn’t any response while he drove to the station, either, but that made perfect sense. Eddie was working today, and he was probably rushing to get there just like Buck was.
Buck wasn’t in the mood to stare at his phone all day, jumping out of his skin at every notification, so he removed the temptation and, in a spurt of newfound maturity, left his phone in his locker for the duration of his shift.
But there was no text when he checked around lunchtime, or when they got a lull after dinner. Or in the morning when his shift was over.
All of that he could easily rationalize away, but after four tortuous days, Buck accepted the fact that he’d been ghosted.

You wouldn't have to introduce a new person to Chris—he already likes me anyway—and you could tell Pepa so she'll stop setting you up on dates that don't go anywhere—"
"And what would you get out of this?" Eddie asks, grinning.
