Summary
The scars on Jiaoqiu’s back are just as wide and deep. It looks like flesh has been carved out of him. Debriding the wounds was necessary, of course, to rid them of the necrosis, but it leaves behind a sobering sight.
Moze finds himself lingering a little longer. It’s not an unpleasant task. He wasn’t able to save Jiaoqiu from the borisin, but he can do this, at least. And Jiaoqiu’s shoulders have lost some tension since he started. The sight may be sobering, but Moze feels peaceful, too. There’s no danger here. Just a simple task that he’s good at.
He wonders what it would feel like if it was just his hands on Jiaoqiu instead of the towel.
(Back on the Yaoqing, Jiaoqiu gets put on leave and Moze is assigned to watch him. He end up helping Jiaoqiu with some things. He ends up realizing some things, too.)

Aventurine dares to consider Ratio’s deal. There aren’t many things he wants in this world. Except one. Dr. Veritas Ratio. The one person Aventurine can’t read. The one chip Aventurine doesn’t dare gamble away. Ratio is the one card Aventurine keeps close to his chest. Aventurine wants to be ruined by him.
“What if,” Aventurine wets his lips, testing the waters. His left hand is hidden skillfully behind his back. It trembles slightly. Aventurine balls it into a fist. “I want you?” He purrs.
“That can be arranged,” Ratio mutters curtly, his cheeks pink. “Provided you successfully go through my treatment.”

Though the odds were low, they weren't zero- and Aventurine was very, very lucky. Veritas Ratio was by no means a gambling man, but that would require them both knowing there was odds to be drawn in the first place.
In a less than .01% chance, Ratio gets that Avgin pregnant and because Aventurine didn't get any Avgin sex education growing up, neither of them have any idea how that happened.
