Illusion Press’ Christmas party was always a huge event. Every year the publishing house would book somewhere stupidly expensive, invite all the best-selling authors they had published and put on a completely open bar. The night usually ended somewhere in the early hours of the morning, at which point Frank was normally already gone with whoever had offered, to wake up several hours later and ride the subway home, hungover and smelling of another man’s cologne. He just never imagined that man might be his boss.

Summary
He’d noticed him as soon as he stepped into the bar. It was hard not to, with his fire-truck red hair and fake fur coat. He looked almost as out-of-place as Frank felt. It made sense that the only reason someone as vibrant and so full of life as Gerard would talk to Frank was because he thought he was someone else. When Gerard got up to leave he found he didn’t want their conversation to end; didn’t want to go back to gazing across the bar at the same tired faces. Which was how he’d ended up running through the rain with a flame-haired hooker to his apartment.
A case of mistaken identity turns Frank's carefully crafted world upside-down. Gerard is a whirlwind of noise and light that Frank didn't even know he was missing. Whether he's just playing with Frank or a hustler he doesn't know, but he finds for some reason he can't say no to him.
