“I think I just don’t want to give them the satisfaction. If I do end up marrying a woman, fine, I’ll deal with it then. Plus, I imagine I’ll love her enough that I wouldn’t care that it would make my parents happy. But, as it is, I really just want to date a man and rub it in their faces.”
Eddie opens the fridge and takes out another beer. “You could do that.”
“How? They’ll be here in 4 days. I’m fast, but I’m not that fast.”
“Doesn’t have to be a real relationship.” Eddie opens the beer and hands it to Buck. “You could just ask someone to play along.”
Buck would like it noted, at this point, that it was Eddie’s idea.
The Buckleys come to visit. Some questionable decisions are made.

"So what do we do tomorrow on shift when Eddie asks how the date went?" asks Val
"We tell him 'Hey, we tried but we're better off as friends'," Answers Buck matter-of-factly.
"Boo!" she jeers whilst throwing the stale bar pretzels at him. "Thats lame, why don't we... pretend we're dating?"
"Why would we do that?"
"To make Eddie jealous!" States Val with a michevious grin.
"Which will, never in a million years work." Buck has considered the possibility of Eddie loving him back, he's had the fantasies, but that's all they will ever amount to, fantasies.
"What's the harm in trying? Look, if it doesn't work, then I go back to the 112, we go our separate ways, tell him we're better off as friends. If it does work? You'll finally get your hunky firefighter and live happily ever after! Either way, no downside."
Buck hums in agreement, ruminating on the idea. Shes not wrong, its not exactly a win-win situation, more like win-neutral; but theres no loss really! Perhaps the 3 beers and 2 vodka tonics have impacted his decision-making more than he thought.

Chris gives him a look holding the type of ire you can only receive from a teenager. “No…” he says as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “You’re my other dad.”
Buck feels his throat tighten and his eyes prickle. He tries not to show it - he knows he will immediately drain any coolness cache he has left with Chris if he does. He basks in the honor of Chris considering him for any kind of paternal role for a moment before the other half of the equation dawns on him. “Wait…you told her I’m married to your dad?”

Eddie snorts, taking a sip of his beer. “I am well aware of that, Buck.”
“So why do you want to take me on dates?” Buck asks incredulously. “Won’t that make you uncomfortable?”
That makes Eddie sit up straighter, a frown playing on his lips. “I already told you that you being into men changes nothing between us. I meant that.”
“Okay, fine, great. That doesn’t mean you have to start buying me romantic dinners.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” Eddie points out. “I want to. At the very least so that you understand what romance really looks like and don’t settle for a dickwad like Tommy ever again.”
