Summary
Newt’s found himself a new creature at the seashore. This creature is an extremely intelligent humanoid with a voice like a fallen angel, speaks a glorious, graceful language that Newt has never heard before, and suffers extensive scarring to the hands. He’s old, how old Newt isn’t sure, but despite the language barrier it’s clear that he’s deeply depressed and he has a disturbing tendency to believe himself a danger to all around him.
Newt just thinks he’s the last of an endangered species who’s been on his own for far too long.

I like this!
Scenes I would adore seeing, in canon or out of it, and in no particular order:
1) Maglor facing his fears (potentially less than willingly via rogue dragon) only to be astonished when Newt steps up and makes the dragon start acting like a very big puppy.
2) Newt, Tina, and Maglor ending up transported back in time together to the days after Maeglos' rescue. Maglor is bound by his curse again, Tina gets elvish battle training and proves herself to be terrifying, and a number of the elves are dismissive of the humans Maglor has shown up with. They're human, they barely live a century, right? But then the humans break out their magic tricks and everyone goes *shocked Pikachu face*. Maglor's brothers are scared and angry and grieving about the future Maglor tells them about and Maeglos can't believe it because it will break him. Somehow Newt is the one who impresses the other elves the most because he's so *kind*. He's like a unicorn: pure, something to be revered. And Newt can heal soul wounds. That... that's big. With enough time, trial, and plot, Newt finds a way to unravel the Oath that binds Maglor and those of his siblings who are willing to give up their quest by rule-lawyering it by saying they are no longer the people they once were, the ones who swore the oath. Tina and Newt die of old age on Middle Earth but their twin boys have families of their own and create lines of powerful magicians in the future despite the twins being squibs. Maglor is their lines' sworn protector, and the grandkids of Newt and Tina sail West with some of Maglor's brothers.
3) Newt gets in over his head during a case with some smugglers with Maglor as his only backup, as Tina is heavily pregnant. Maglor finds that for the right reason, he's still perfectly willing- and very, very able- to fight. Newt has to talk him out of a flashback right as Maglor's about to kill the threat.
