Work Text:
“Sensei, are you okay? I think that girl hit you with her quirk..”
“I’m fine, it doesn’t look like it’s affecting me but I’ll go to recovery girl just in c-”
Poof.
And that’s how Shouta Aizawa ended up so much younger than he was before.
Izuku is crouched in front of him, this- um. Very much shorter version of their sensei and offering a very gentle smile to him.
“Are you okay, Sensei?” He questions, and Shouta just blinks in response. “Uh. Sensei?”
“I’m not Sensei.” Tiny Shouta deadpans, looking Izuku up and down. “Do I know you?”
Ah. Okay. So the quirk also erased any memories. Great. To Recovery Girl they go then.
“Um.. Uh, I’m…” Izuku looks behind him at his classmates still there, staring with their own varying reactions. Mostly of shock.
Then, one of them, specifically Kaminari, speaks up. “Oh! Uh, this is Izuku! We’re his classmates and… You’re his little brother!” He says, like an absolute genius.
...
Izuku shoots him a ‘what? WHAT?’ look before he feels Shouta’s hand tug on his shirt making him look back to his sense- no, okay. The boy. The CHILD. Not his sensei at the moment.
This was so weird.
“You’re my Nii-San?” Shouta questions, squinting suspiciously at Izuku.
Izuku tries not to choke at that and instead nods slowly.
“Then how come I’ve never met you? This doesn’t seem logical. Mom said things have to be logical and this isn’t.” He frowns deeply at Izuku, waiting for answers.
“U-Uh….” Izuku stutters, “um..”
“It’s because your parents didn’t want you to know they had a quirkless son.” Bakugou suddenly says, and then promptly gets smacked by Kirishima.
Everyone goes silent.
It wasn’t news to everyone that Izuku was quirkless before, they kinda had a group therapy session when they found that shit out.
Anyways. You can probably connect the dots, but why the hell did Bakugou just say that?
They all stare at Bakugou with ‘what the fuck’ looks and he just holds his cheek where he was slapped and huffs. “Okay. Bad choice of words, my fucking bad. Was not my best idea.”
Kirishima raises an eyebrow.
Bakugou looks away.
“Izuku is my Nii-San now.” Shouta abruptly says, interrupting the tension and holding onto Izuku’s hand. “Nii-san, where are my parents?”
Izuku tries again not to choke and just sighs tiredly, he could seriously use a nap right now- surprisingly. He’ll deal with… Kacchan later. He instead turns back to Shouta and hums, “I’m not sure.. Do you want me to be honest with you though?”
“That’d be logical.” Shouta mumbles with a nod.
Izuku has to resist letting out a laugh, this really was just a tiny version of Aizawa. “You were hit with a quirk that made you a kid again. So you’re not going to stay like this forever and when you turn back to an adult you can see your parents again, I’m sure.” He reassures, making Aizawa release some tension Izuku hadn’t seen before.
“That’s… That’s logical. Okay.” Shouta stands up on his tippy toes and wraps his arms around Izuku’s neck, the boy picking him up in response right away. Izuku stands with Shouta in his arms, turning to his other classmates with a slight smile.
“Let’s go to recovery girl- then we can figure out the rest from there.” He says while adjusting his grip on the tiny sensei.
As it turns out, Shouta would be stuck as a child for at least a week.
It also turns out that their sensei was a very.. Cautious kid. Always so skeptical of every single person that comes by, only holding onto Izuku’s hand and not taking any others offered to him.
Seems Izuku would actually be a big brother for a little bit, seeing as Aizawa just hated most people. He was basically attached to Izuku and he tried his very best to scare anyone else off by glaring at them with purpose.
If they stared too long at his ‘Nii-San’? He’d use his quirk and tell them to stop looking.
If someone that Shouta wasn’t fond of tried to hug or touch Izuku at all? He’d, well. He’d kick them.
If it was a guy they got kicked… In a certain place.
Shouta was a little ruthless as a kid.
Which finds Izuku usually in his room rather than around his classmates and friends. He wasn’t really upset with it. Shouta wouldn’t be like this long and it seemed like the boy just wanted his big brother’s attention for himself.
Or he just hated other people.
Probably both.
Izuku still isn’t sure why he was so quickly trusted by the boy, but he chooses not to question it in favor of focusing on just taking care of him.
Which was… Actually pretty easy. Shouta was clingy but overall low maintenance.
It was kinda like taking care of a cat. Many naps involved and keeping the cat away from hissing at other people.
So, Izuku lays in bed with Shouta on his chest and staring up at him. Izuku stared back, the two of them just slowly blinking. Until,
“Nii-san do I have cats as a grown-up?” Shouta questions, fidgeting with his hands while continuing to stare down Izuku.
“Oh! Um. Do you have cats..? I think so! I remember Aizawa-sensei- or uh, sorry, you coming into class one day with fur on you.. You did a couple of times and it’s always black fur no one else sees so… Unless you’re hanging out with Midnight a lot I’m assuming you have a cat…” Izuku hums, then tilts his head at the small sensei, “Why do you ask, Shouta?”
“Blegh, call me Otouto please. And I was just wondering because I knew I’d get a cat as soon as I moved away from my parents when I grew up. But if I do have a cat.. Then who’s watching them right now?” Shouta worries, and Izuku is quick to pat him on the head in reassurance.
“I’m pretty sure Yamada-Sensei is! You two live together after all. Um, no particular reason why! Haha, but if you have a cat then it’s definitely with him! I can text him too to make sure if you want!” The teen says, already reaching over to his phone in order to text Present Mic. Which seemed to put the boy at ease, until- well,
“...I’m living with Zashi?”
Izuku blinks.
“...You know who Yamada-Sensei is?”
Shouta blinks back.
“He’s my… He says he’s my best friend. We go to first grade together.”
Izuku raises a hand to cover his mouth with, oh my god that’s adorable. It was literally childhood friends to lovers. Izuku bets Yamada made the first move in literally everything.
“...So he’s not in a muzzle any more? He’s an adult and free?”
Or not. Okay. Definitely not. Wait, that's a lot to unpack. What?
“Uh.. No Shout- Uh, No, Otouto he’s okay. I promise. He’s very happy too.” Izuku reassures once again, and sends a reluctant text to Yamada in order to check on the possible cat.
...And to question if what Shouta says is right and if he’s actually okay now.
Well that’s… Interesting. Very serious, but interesting. Izuku wasn’t alone when it came to trauma. I mean, the whole class has their fair share of it too but in relation to the past…
He silently hugs Shouta to his chest, the boy just letting himself be smothered and seemingly enjoying it by the way he buries his head in the teen’s chest.
Clingy....
Izuku really hopes there’s no underlying meaning to this either. He doesn’t want his teacher to have childhood trauma as bad as his own.
But seeing a muzzle on your best friend.. Erm…
Okay y’know what? It’s in the past. And right now he’s got a pretty dang good sensei right now who’s um! Happy? Is he happy? Izuku doesn’t know, not really. He always seemed… Tired. Though that may just be how Aizawa is. His aura screams nap time.
...Eh. anyways.
“D’you wanna nap again?” Izuku questions softly, running his hand through the boy’s hair that’s surprisingly soft.
“Mm...mhm. Yeah a nap sounds….” Yawn, “Logical…”
Izuku snickers lightly and tugs the blanket over them both. “Very logical indeed.” He then yawns as well, dropping his head against his pillow with a sigh.
...Tiny Sensei is seriously messing up his sleep schedule. Is this what Aizawa deals with all the time?
Well, at least he won’t be too mad when he falls asleep in class when he’s an adult again.
Izuku curls up slightly, hugging Shouta close to his chest and shutting his eyes.
They take one of the best damn naps they could possibly ever have,
That being said. Ironically. Shouta wakes up very confused in the morning as to why he’s in his students bed.
The confusion only lasts for a split second though, as he remembers quite literally everything.
Lord his students are never going to let him live this down.
He tries to get out of bed,
Izuku’s grip on him tightens.
He looks back to the teen and sighs,
...Maybe he needed him as much as he needed him when he was under the quirk.
Shouta sits back on the bed, staring down at his kid with a soft look.
His kid was endlessly kind and deserving of so much. He’s glad he picked him as a Nii-san over any other of his students.
It was the most logical decision, after all.
