Sunlight streamed in through the window, illuminating the side of Eddie's face. Buck smiled and reached out with one hand to lightly trace his boyfriend's jaw. Eddie let out a quiet sigh and his eyelids flickered, beginning to wake up from the touch.

"Morning," Buck whispered.

Eyes opening fully, Eddie looked at Buck and a smile stretched across his face.

"Morning, Buck."

"How did you sleep?" Buck asked, his fingers making their way down Eddie's neck to his chest.

"Mm," Eddie responded, eyes closing again as he enjoyed what Buck was doing. "Like a log. What time is it?"

"A little after eight," Buck replied, tracing circles lazily.

"Saturdays are the best," Eddie murmured.

"They sure are," Buck agreed. "But you know what makes them even better?"

Opening his eyes again, Eddie smiled as Buck slowly leaned closer until their lips were just barely brushing.

"This," Buck said, and fit his mouth to Eddie's softly.

Eddie's eyes fell shut again as they kissed and a soft sigh escaped him, quickly swallowed up by the other man. He found himself pushed onto his back as Buck straddled him, hands creeping lower and beginning to play with his waistband.

Before they could go any further, the unmistakable sound of footsteps coming down the hallway reached their ears and Buck rolled off Eddie, lying beside him and staring up at the ceiling.

Eddie huffed a laugh and found Buck's hand with his, giving it a squeeze.

"Sorry," he whispered.

"Don't apologise," Buck said instantly, turning onto his side so he could look at Eddie and smile. "When I said I wanted all of you, that included Chris."

Eddie searched for words to express how much he adored Buck for loving his son, but he was still just staring fondly when Christopher knocked on their door and then proceeded to open it.

"Good morning!" the eleven-year-old boy sang, grinning wide.

"Morning, Superman!" Buck said, sitting up and gesturing for Chris to join them on the bed.

Eddie helped Chris climb up onto the bed, and the boy immediately settled himself in between them, giggling.

"How'd you sleep?" Eddie asked, pressing a kiss to Chris' head.

"I slept," Chris answered cryptically.

Eddie met Buck's eyes over the boy's head, sharing a questioning glance and a smile.

"Well, your dad and I were hoping to have a really lazy Saturday today," Buck said, poking at one of the dinosaurs on Chris' pyjama top. "So how do you feel about making us some breakfast?"

"I can make pancakes," Chris said thoughtfully. "Does that sound good?"

"That sounds amazing," Buck said, practically salivating at the thought.

Christopher moved as if to get off the bed again, but Eddie put an arm around him and pinned him down on the bed.

"No, not yet," Eddie said, burying his head against his son's chest. "I haven't had enough Chris Time yet."

Enveloping them both in his arms, Buck joined in on the hug to make extra sure that Chris couldn't wriggle out of it.

"Dads!" Chris whined. "You literally saw me two days ago."

"What did you say?" Buck asked sharply, pulling back so he could frown down at the boy. "Did you just say 'Dads'?"

Eddie had also lifted his head, his lips parted in surprise.

"Well, you are my dads, aren't you?" Chris asked, taking advantage of their surprise to break free and jump off the bed, catching hold of the bedside table to steady himself.

"Yeah, I mean-" Eddie looked over at Buck and was instantly distracted by the wide, watery eyes. "Buck? Are you okay?" He scooted closer, putting a hand on the other man's cheek.

"I'm..." Buck swallowed thickly and tried to blink back his tears. "Chris, you- You think of me as your dad?"

Looking over his shoulder at the doorway, Christopher frowned. "Do you not want to be my dad?"

"What?" Buck gasped. "No, of course! Of course I want to be... But... Chris, you already have a dad." His eyes flicked sideways to Eddie, who was still cupping his face gently. "I don't... I don't want..."

"Steph in my class has two moms," Chris said nonchalantly.

"Yeah, Buck," Eddie said, unable to contain the grin that was stretching across his face. "Are you saying Steph can't have two moms?"

"Of course I'm not saying that," Buck blurted out, his voice cracking slightly. "I'm just saying... I don't know what I'm saying."

"Are you crying?" Chris asked.

"Go get started on the pancakes, Chris," Eddie instructed, and Chris slipped out of the room silently.

"I've always wanted to be a dad," Buck mumbled, swiping at his eyes with the back of his hand. "I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm crying."

"It's okay," Eddie said, pulling him back against his chest. "I've got you."

Tipping his head back to rest on Eddie's shoulder, Buck stared up at the ceiling and took some deep, slow breaths to calm himself down. Eddie's hands soothed him, rubbing up and down his arms slowly.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" Eddie asked after a few moments of comfortable silence.

"Don't you?" Buck asked, tilting his head so he could look at Eddie. "I mean, the last time someone almost stepped in as another parent figure for Chris, you had a panic attack-"

"That was different," Eddie said immediately, and Buck moved away from him so he could turn and face him.

"Different how?" he asked.

"It wasn't you," Eddie said simply, shrugging.

"Eddie..." Buck's lips trembled and his eyes watered again. "You really mean it?"

"I love you, Evan," Eddie said, sliding a hand into Buck's hair. "I want you to be a part of our lives forever."

"I love you too," Buck avowed. "And I want... all of this. You, Chris, pancakes for breakfast-"

"You do know we've had this conversation before, right?" Eddie teased.

"Yeah, but last time didn't include Chris calling me 'Dad'!" Buck countered. "I just... Are you sure you're okay with that?"

"Evan Buckley," Eddie said, cupping the man's face with both hands. "Will you be a second father to my son?"

"If you want me to," Buck said with a watery smile.

"Idiot," Eddie said fondly, drawing Buck's face closer to kiss him, slow and languid.

"I'm your idiot," Buck said into Eddie's mouth, eyes closed in bliss.

When they pulled back from each other, just shy of taking things further again, Eddie grinned mischievously.

"Come on, Dad," he said. "We'd better go make sure our son isn't burning down the kitchen."

Buck's entire face lit up joyfully and he practically leapt out of the bed.
