Summary
He stands beside his teacher’s body.
Again he’s five years old, standing before the body of someone he thought to be invincible. He wants to call out and ask why his fathe- his sensei would sleep out in the open without a blanket.
But this isn’t his father, curled up on his side, spilled intestines and blade hidden in the shadows cast around their living room floor. The moon is bright here, nothing is hidden.
