You know what a Warden is—intellectually, at least. They are the brave (or commandeered, although the two are not mutually exclusive) souls who fight back the Blight which could so easily destroy our world. Their rites of initiation are shrouded in secrecy, and it is not my purpose here to shed light on them. I will say only this: the Joining changes them. It allows them to sense the Blight and hardens their bodies to its effects, turning them into specially-crafted slayers of darkspawn.
It is also a death sentence.
