Sofea’s expression hardened, her voice now laced with defiance. “I will break the rules of the Ainur if that is the cost of standing beside you. What is the purpose of my immortality if I cannot choose whom to love? What value is there in my song if it cannot sing of my heart’s truth?”
Makalaurë’s heart raced at her words. He reached for her hand, his fingers trembling as they brushed hers. “Sofea… you would defy the will of Eru for me?”
She nodded, her gaze never wavering. “For you, I would. For you, I will.”
