Work Text:
He dialed the phone again, wondering why his mother wasn't answering. She didn't work today, which hadn’t happened in the last 8 years, and she'd told him that he didn't have to hurry home that afternoon after school, which was a bit weird on its own, but after being handed a small amount of spending money to get some groceries, Izuku simply shrugged it off.
Izuku frowned as he tried the key again, the metal sliding home in the lock but unable to turn. Sighing, he pocketed his keys, trudging back down the stairs to the manager's office. He knocked on the door, smiling sheepishly when the woman answered.
"Hello Nakamura-san. I just tried to get into the apartment and my key isn't working and my mother isn't answering." He began. The older woman frowned, "I thought- I mean your mother said…" She trailed off before hissing. "Come on in Izuku-kun. We should have a small talk."
Izuku tilted his head, following her into her apartment. The woman lived alone, her husband dying when Izuku was little and all of their kids lived in other parts of Japan. "Do any of your groceries need to be refrigerated, dear?" She asked suddenly. He jumped before nodding. "Yes ma'am, if you don't mind. It's just the eggs. Mom said we were out so I got some while I was there. They were on sale so I had enough."
After putting the measly amount of groceries into the woman's fridge, Izuku was ushered to the couch, a hot cup of tea shoved into his hands. "Izuku-kun. Your mother told me that you'd be living with a friend of yours. She came by last month and said that neither of you were renewing your lease due to her moving to live with your father in America. She told me that you were going to come by this afternoon for the rest of your things and to give me the key."
Izuku froze. His mother had… "What?" He gasped. "But, she told me to go get groceries after school today. Said that she wanted to cook dinner since she was off work for the day and that she needed a few things. She said she felt bad that she hadn’t been able to cook dinner for me since I was old enough to heat up leftovers when I was 6. I-I don't understand." He curled in on himself. "She abandoned me?" He hunched in on himself, ignoring the way his landlady pulled him into a tight hug. "I-I know I don't have a quirk and I g-get into trouble a-a lot at sc-school, but I can't help-p it that my mind w-wanders-s around!" He wailed.
She rubbed his back as he cried, begging for his mother to come back and love him again until he was all cried out. "Izuku-kun, do you have someone who can help you? I know she lied to you, but is it possible that you have a friend or family member that can house you for a little while?"
Izuku pulled back and nodded, his fist rubbing harshly on his eyes. "My Auntie and Uncle and their son, Kacchan, who's my best friend." She nodded, standing up. "Good. Go ahead and call them while I plate us up some leftover onigiri." He watched her walk into the kitchen before calling his Auntie Mitsuki, telling her what Inko had done before wincing at the anger-filled screech that came from somewhere behind her. Before she hung up, she told him she was on her way with Katsuki and Masaru, and to not worry, she'll help him.
Izuku hung up with a sigh of relief. His Aunt was pissed that Inko had abandoned him, but to be fair, the elder Midoriya didn't seem to want to be in the same room as her son, let alone care about him. Not since they had come home from the doctor's office after his quirk appointment.
Frankly, Izuku didn't really remember the visit, his attention more focused on thinking about the cool quirks he had seen in the waiting room than on the words being spoken between adults. It wasn't until they had gotten home and his mother had thrown him on the floor harshly that she spoke to him, calling him quirkless and useless. He remembered quite clearly that she then yanked him up from the floor, gripping his arm tight enough to leave bruises while screaming that he was quirkless and would never get a quirk.
He ate a bit of the onigiri that his landlady had placed in front of him, his brain too tied up in the fact that his own mother had lied and abandoned him to really eat anything as he waited for his aunt and best friend to arrive.
A knock at the door startled the two of them, Nakamura-san opening the door quickly to find the three Bakugos waiting. "Hello. You must be Izuku-kun's aunt and uncle and...Kacchan?"
Katsuki huffed, "Katsuki to you. Only the nerd calls me Kacchan. Where is he?" Nakamura stepped aside, allowing the three blondes to enter her apartment, watching silently as all three of them hurried over to Izuku.
"Izu, kiddo. Are you ok?" Auntie Mitsuki asked, checking the teen over. Izuku could feel his tears begin anew. "Auntie, mom lied! She told me to get groceries so she could make me dinner and when I got home, Nakamura-san said she moved to America and said I was staying with a friend. She abandoned me!"
Mitsuki pulled the greenette into a tight hug. "Don't worry, brat. We'll figure it out. First things first, we need to make a report against that bitch. Masaru, Katsuki, go ahead and get Izuku's things into the car. We'll take him home tonight." She turned to the landlady.
"Thank you for taking care of Izuku until we got here. Is it ok if we tell the police what you've seen for them to ask questions?" She asked. Nakamura-san nodded, "Of course. Poor Izuku-kun. I can't believe Midoriya-san did that to the poor boy. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything." Mitsuki smiled softly, ushering her husband out of the apartment building and towards their car. "Izuku, don't worry about anything. We'll be there for you every step of the way, even if we need to adopt you ourselves, ok?" Masaru stated, pulling the green-haired teen into a tight hug. Izuku nodded, sighing with relief. "Thanks Uncle. I know you guys will. I've always been able to count on you three."
Mitsuki let her husband drive them over to the station, her fury at her former best friend too much to allow her not to have a severe amount of road rage. She didn't want to scare her son and nephew with her terrible driving and honestly, she was too pissed to really drive anyways. With the generally calm man at the wheel, the Bakugos and their charge made it safely, all four of them pouring out of the car to look up at the bustling building.
She ruffled green curls, "Don't worry kiddo, don’t forget, we'll be there every step of the way." He nodded, leading them all into the building and up to the front desk. Izuku looked over at his aunt who sighed, rapping her knuckles on the counter. "Excuse me, ma'am. I need to talk to someone to make a report about child abandonment?" The woman at the desk looked up, a small frown on her face. "Child abandonment, you say? What's your name?" Mitsuki huffed, "Mitsuki Bakugo, this is my husband, Masaru and our son, Katsuki. The child in question is this one, Izuku Midoriya. His mother was a friend of ours."
The lady nodded, "Go ahead and have a seat. I'll get a detective for you, Bakugo-san." She turned away, leaving Mitsuki to usher her small group into the waiting room chairs, watching with a small smile as her brat and nephew talked about the various people in the building. Izuku had always been able to figure out the strangest things about the people around them, something that he tried desperately to teach to her own brat with a claim that it would make him a better hero. Sometimes she had no idea how he even knew the things he did about the people he saw and the two teens had quickly turned it into a game where one of them would analyze a random stranger and the other would go up to the person and ask. It amused them to no end and it was a relief that they could fall back on old habits even in the midst of such a problematic moment.
They sat up straight as a man with a tan hat and coat came up to them, "Bakugo-san?" She stood, her family falling in behind her. "Yes, sir. That is us." The man nodded, a small smile on his face. "Hello Bakugo-san, my name is Detective-" He cut off as Izuku spoke, "Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi, quirk True Man which allows you to tell if someone is lying or telling the truth." The detective stared at Izuku long enough to make the teen blush, "Young man, that is very correct. How did you know?" Izuku shrugged, "I don't know, just do? It's kind of obvious by looking at you."
The detective frowned slightly, "I see. Anyways, why don't you four follow me to my office so we can get your report filed?" He led them down the hall, ushering them into the office and onto a few chairs. "Bakugo-san, our secretary informed me that you'd like to make a report on child abandonment?" Mitsuki nodded, "Yes sir. And please, call me Mitsuki. There's too many Bakugos in this room to do otherwise." Detective Tsukauchi nodded, "Yes of course, Mitsuki. Would it be alright if I record this meeting?" She huffed, "Whatever keeps Izuku safe and happy."
Tsukauchi reached over, pressing a button on the recorder. "This is Detective Tsukauchi, badge number 201821208, gathering information on a child abandonment case. Please introduce yourself as well as who you are to this case." Mitsuki nodded, "Mitsuki Bakugo, honorary aunt of the child." Her husband then son followed before Izuku finished off. "Izuku Midoriya, child in question."
The detective smiled. "Thank you. Please start from the beginning." Izuku looked at his aunt, seeking confidence before taking a deep breath.
"Mom told me before I left for school that she had the whole day off of work. She wanted me to spend some time out of the house, with friends or something but when I told her that I'd rather spend the time with her, she gave me some money and told me to get groceries for our dinner tonight. We were supposed to eat together and then watch some tv, but when I got home, the key didn't work and mom wasn't answering the phone. I ended up going down to our landlady's apartment and that's when she told me that mom left. Apparently, she had decided to move to America to be with my father who left when I was 4, and had told the landlady that I was going to come by and get my things from her since I was staying at a friend's house instead of moving with her."
Detective Tsukauchi hummed, writing down what Izuku had said. "And what is your landlady's name? We'll need to speak with her." Izuku coughed into his hand, "Itsuko Nakamura, sir." Tsukauchi scribbled that down, smiling softly at the stressing teen. "You're doing just fine, Midoriya-kun. What's your mother's name?" Izuku smiled shyly, "Inko Midoriya." Tsukuachi smiled, "Good, very good. Now, Midoriya-kun, do you have any aunts or uncles that you know of?"
Izuku frowned, "Mom used to talk about a brother she had. She didn't like him very much, said his quirk was scary. She didn't much like mental quirks anyways and I think the fact that his mom was a different woman than her own upset her a lot." Tsukauchi sighed, "I see. Do you know his name?" Izuku tilted his head before shaking it. "No sir. Mom never said his name. I think he had the same last name as hers before she married my father, though. Her last name was Aizawa."
Tsukauchi dropped his pencil, staring at the greenette in shock. "Aizawa? Are you sure?" Izuku nodded. He didn't understand why the detective reacted that way and it scared him. "Detective, sir? Is that a bad thing?" The man shook his head, "No, no. It's not. I have a friend with the last name Aizawa too. It just startled me for a moment." He wiggled the mouse of his computer, waking it up. "Midoriya-kun, would you happen to know why your mother abandoned you? Did she hurt you beforehand or say something mean?"
Izuku sighed, looking down at his fingers. "Mom didn't like that I was quirkless or that I was always getting in trouble because of my ADHD. She'd spend a lot of time out of the house by working or would lock herself in her room whenever she was home. She would always claim it was because having a quirkless child was expensive, which I mean, I guess it was. She wasn't very nice when she drank or was tired." Izuku looked over at the Bakugos, fearing their reactions. "Mom would sometimes kick me out of the house with only a bag of clothes. I'd go over to Kacchan's and tell them I was wanting to spend the night cause mom was working overnight. I felt bad for lying though."
Mitsuki huffed, kissing the top of his head. "Don't worry kiddo, we aren't angry at you." Tsukauchi continued typing for a moment before frowning at something on his computer. "Midoriya-kun, did your mother ever take you to the quirk doctor?" Izuku hummed, "Yeah? When I was like 4 or so. I was getting really bad headaches and mom thought it could be my quirk since she got headaches when hers came in too. I don't really remember the doctor or the appointment, my head hurt too much, but I remember how I woke up after a nap in the car and my head didn't hurt anymore and mom was...angry. She said I was quirkless which meant that people would be mean to me." He smiled over at Katsuki. "I thought Kacchan would hate me too, but he said I was smart and I could still be a hero by being the brain to his brawn."
Tsukauchi smiled before sighing, "Midoriya-kun, I'm sorry to say but your mother lied to you." At the looks of confusion, he pressed on. "You aren't quirkless. It's here in your file that you have a mental quirk, though since you never went back to the quirk doctor, it doesn't say what kind of mental quirk it is. There's not even a name for it. The only note here was that your mother was supposed to bring you back once your headache went away but she never did."
The room was silent.
"I-I have a quirk?" Izuku whispered. He shook his head, "No. She-she would have told me…right? I mean, we were charged extra because I was quirkless. She had to work more because of me! Even the teachers said that my ADHD was all because of me being quirkless! I-I don't understand. She didn't want me because of my quirk?" He blubbered, turning his face into Katsuki's waiting arms, filling his shirt with tears. Izuku was still crying even as he pulled away, wiping his eyes.
"So, it's not my fault that I can't keep still in class? It isn’t my fault that I learn ahead of the rest of the class? I'm not lazy and stupid like everyone said?" He begged. Tsukauchi shook his head, "I don't know who told you that you were lazy and stupid, but you are anything but. I don't know what your quirk is, so I can't tell you if what you are dealing with is part of it or not, but I can always tell you that you, Midoriya-kun, are not lazy and you are not stupid."
Katsuki nudged the greenette, "Hey nerd? I bet your analysis is part of your quirk!" Izuku hummed, "I mean, it could be. Mom said her brother's quirk was in his eyes and her's is too, so it makes sense that mine would be in mine. Though I don’t understand why she wouldn't like mental quirks seeing as hers is technically mental as well."
Tsukauchi hummed, typing quickly on his phone before directing attention to the rest of the room. "I took the liberty of looking your mother up as well. I found her brother, he's actually my friend." Izuku snorted, "Small world. Is he on his way then?" Tsukauchi smiled, "Yeah. I just texted him. He's been keeping an eye on your mom from afar since he knew she didn't like him, so he knew about you."
The greenette sighed, "Does he know what happened?" The fact that the man supposedly was friends with a police detective was good, it meant that he couldn't be too bad, but he was worried his uncle was going to be the same as Inko, if not worse. The detective shook his head, "No. I just said that he needed to come to my office. I decided that we could tell him together once he arrived."
They spoke a bit more about things Izuku went through with Inko and his school before there was a knock at the door, a man with the head of a ginger cat peeking in. "Hey, Detective? You've got someone waiting? Should I send him in?" The man asked. Tsukauchi nodded, "Yeah, let him in. Thanks Sansa." The cat man stepped out of the way, allowing for a scraggly long haired hobo man to enter.
"Holy shit. You're Eraserhead!" Izuku exclaimed. He couldn't believe his uncle was his favorite hero. He moved back over to his backpack, pulling out his analysis notebook and flipping to the page that had the underground hero.
He didn't realize he was still muttering until he glanced up and saw the look of surprise on the man's face. Instantly, Izuku stopped muttering. "Sorry. I-I know it's annoying." He whispered, looking down at his shoes.
"Oi, Nerd! I've already told you that anyone who tells you that your analysis is annoying is a fucking extra that won't ever be as good a hero as you!" Katsuki growled.
Eraserhead sighed, "While I wouldn't put it in those exact words, I do agree with the blonde. Analysis, especially on the fly like that, is highly sought after. It's a good skill for any hero to have and I wish more did."
The hero turned to the detective, "Tsukauchi, why am I here?" He asked with a sigh. The detective hummed, "The green bean is one Izuku Midoriya. Your nephew." Eraserhead snapped his head back towards Izuku. "You're Inko's kid?" He looked around, "Where's Inko?"
Izuku scoffed, "She lied to me for 10 years, told me I was quirkless when she knew I wasn't then lied and sent me to get groceries before abandoning me to live in America with Hisashi."
Eraserhead frowned, "Geez. I knew she didn't like my quirk but I never expected her to be cruel to her own kid." He faced the Bakugos, "And you three?"
Mitsuki snorted, "Honorary aunt, uncle and the kid's best friend." Tsukauchi spoke up then, "The Bakugos here brought Izuku to our attention." Eraserhead nodded, "Thank you for being there for him. Inko never let me meet Izuku, and while I knew of him, I never really saw much beyond what my boss could find."
Eraserhead sighed, "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you, Izuku. But if you want, I can be now." Izuku smiled, "I think I'd like that Eraserhead." The hero frowned before sighing again. Izuku was pretty sure that sighing was his default state of mind.
"She didn't even tell you my name, huh? My name is Shouta Aizawa." He bowed slightly, nearly falling over as Izuku wrapped his arms around the man's waist.
"Uncle Sho!" He grinned. Shouta snorted, "Yeah, kid. Your Uncle Sho." He looked over at the three blondes, "Would you like to exchange numbers? I don't patrol tonight anyways and I'd like to get to know the three people who care about my nephew so much and took care of him."
Mitsuki nodded, "Sure. Feel free to get it from Izuku. We have what's left of his stuff in our car. Inko had dropped it off at the landlady's apartment before she dipped like the bitch she is."
Shouta snorted, "I see. Unfortunately, I don't have a car." Mitsuki waved her hand, "I'll just take the two of you to your place then. Our car is big enough and that way Izu can have his stuff before bed."
The man nodded, "Let me just text my husbands that I'll be bringing guests." He pulled out his phone, stopping when Izuku began to mumble again.
"Probably heroes too or people from UA, hmm...mutter...mutter...mutter..." he knocked out of it with a grin, "Your husbands are-" he cut off, looking around, "Wait, I shouldn't say it out loud. An underground hero needs to sometimes hide their family so just the fact that you've said you have a family is dangerous."
Shouta chuckled, "You're right, they are both heroes. Tsukauchi already knows them and since you'll be living with us and you trust them, those three will know soon anyways. But let's make this fun. How about you don't say anything until we get there and see if you're right. Both of them look completely different when not in uniform and most people don't recognize them."
Izuku grinned, nodding fast enough that the man thought his head would fall off. "Tsukauchi, will you email me the documents, please?" The detective nodded, bidding them all a good night before Shouta led them out, texting away on his phone before putting it away.
"Bakugo-san, I-" he began, cutting off when she interrupted him. "Mitsuki, please. That's my husband, Masaru and our brat, Katsuki." Shouta nodded, "Mitsuki, then. I don't live too far from here. Shouldn't take but 10 minutes." He folded himself into the back seat of their car, his hand gripped tightly by his newfound nephew even as the boy spoke to Katsuki. He gave them directions, stretching once they had arrived. Shouta could already see his two husbands loving their newest addition, especially with how kind and smart Izuku seemed to be.
He walked them up to the front door, opening it wide and stepping inside. "Sorry I don't have any guest slippers. Feel free to just use your socks if you want to." He offered, slipping on his own house slippers. He smirked as Izuku snorted. "What?" He asked. Izuku simply pointed down at his feet and laughed. Shouta understood the humor, his feet wiggling inside the footwear that looked as if he had stuck his feet into the mouths of black cats. "Don't worry, once my husbands get a hold of you, you'll be stepping into slippers that are just as silly as these."
Shouta turned as someone stepped into the genkan, turning to find his pretty cloud. "Hello love." He kissed the man on the cheek, "This is Oboro, one of my husbands." Oboro smiled. "And you must be the green bean our Sho mentioned as well as the Bakguos?" Mitsuki opened her mouth to offer up their names once again when Izuku gasped. "Oh my KAMI! You're Loud Cloud!" He squealed. Shouta smirked at Oboro who was staring open mouthed at Izuku who had devolved into a mutter storm of analysis and facts about the bluenette's hero career.
"Did you tell him?" Oboro asked Shouta. He shook his head, "No, he figured it out on his own. He's a really smart kid and who knows if his quirk helps that fact at all." They watched as Izuku continued muttering out random bits of information and analysis on the Cloud hero, anything from his statistics to things he could possibly do with his quirk. Shouta leaned over, elbowing Katsuki. "How long can he possibly go with this?" The blonde teen snorted, "The longest I've ever seen him go was 4 hours, but it probably could be longer since that time I had to snap him out of it." Shouta and Oboro exchanged looks. "He can never meet Nedzu." Oboro stated.
The two men turned at a sound from the back bedroom, the door opening to reveal a long haired blonde man.
Izuku suddenly stopped speaking, his eyes focused on the new addition. "HA! Kacchan you owe me 600 yen!" Katsuki groaned, pulling out his wallet. "Why the hell do I keep betting against you? Like fucking hell, Nerd. Do you have to be right all the time?" Izuku snorted, palming the money that was handed over. "I have no idea why you keep doing it. But I love my odds." The two teens blushed at the cough coming from the adults. Both looked up to find three sets of eyes on them, all three wide and curious.
Katsuki sighed, "Izu and I made a bet in the car on our way here. I bet him 600 yen that Eraserhead wouldn't be married to fucking Present Mic." He glared at Shouta. "Did you have to marry the human incarnate of a loud ass cockatoo?" The adults all snorted while Mitsuki hissed, "Katsuki!" Shouta waved her off, "No, it's fine. He's not wrong. We frequently mess with him about how he resembles the bird." He rolled his eyes, "Izuku, this is our other husband, Hizashi. And no, Zashi, I didn't tell him anything about who you both were. He also knew who I was immediately."
Hizashi grinned brightly, "Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you, Izuku. Shouta hasn't told us much about you, which is understandable so I'm looking forward to getting to know you." The blonde looked at the Bakugos. "I apologize that I wasn't out to greet you, my hearing aids died and I had to grab the spares."
Again, Katsuki swore. Shouta chuckled, "What did you bet this time?" Izuku snickered, "Kacchan said there weren't any heroes that were hard of hearing or deaf completely. I said there were. Now he has to actually wear his hearing aides at school and every day and I get to help design his hero costume." Mitsuki hissed, "Katsuki? You don't wear your hearing aides at school?" The blonde teen shook his head, keeping silent. Izuku sighed, "It's a good thing I take really good notes for him."
Masaru coughed, "Katsuki, let's let your mother and Izuku talk to them for a minute while we get Izuku's things from the car." Katsuki sighed, "Fine." He followed his dad back outside, leaving Mitsuki standing there. "Izu, sweety, why don't you go with them so I can talk to your uncles?" Izuku frowned, nodding slightly. "Yes Auntie." He followed the other two Bakugos outside, shutting the door firmly.
She faced the three men. "I need to tell you something about Izuku." Shouta frowned and nodded. She took a deep breath. "He's been treated so bad by so many people, including Inko that you three are going to need to work hard to gain his trust. Right now, you only have his trust as heroes. Not family figures. Inko pretty much destroyed that. I wish I could have done more for him, but if I wanted to remain in his life and be someone he could come to if anything happened, I needed to pretend that I didn't know what she was doing. And to be honest, I didn't know everything. I knew she kicked him out occasionally and that she didn't buy him things, anyone could see those things. But I didn't know everything; I probably still don't."
Mitsuki glanced behind her to make sure Izuku hadn't returned. "Due to her neglect, Izuku doesn't believe he deserves anything. I struggled for years to get him to take clothes or toys or books from us. It was only after I started saying that they were Katsuki's used things that he didn't want anymore or something I picked up at a second hand store, would he take them home. He's a smart, kind, friendly boy and I'm thankful that the world didn't destroy that in him." She sighed, "The fact that Inko forced that poor boy to live the life of today's quirkless simply because she didn't like mental quirks, is abhorrent. I know school was horrible for him, stores constantly raised their prices for what he was buying. All because she told everyone that he was quirkless."
Shouta sighed, "Thank you for letting us know. I can't promise that we won't make mistakes, but we will always care about Izuku and do our best to keep him happy and safe. You aren't being pushed aside, you'll be able to see him still and I would never take you and your family from Izuku." He glanced at his husbands before huffing, "Besides, I might have lost Inko as my sister, but it seems like I gained a new one with you. And from what I've seen so far, you're a hell of a lot better person than Inko ever was."
Mitsuki huffed out a watery laugh. "Yeah, that bitch is done for whenever I find her. I can't believe she abandoned Izuku without even a goodbye. And to find out that he's not quirkless?!" She growled. Hizashi tilted his head, "What is his quirk anyways?" Shouta snorted, "No idea. Kid didn't even know he had one until tonight." Mitsuki nodded, "That's right. Detective Tsukauchi told us only 10 or 20 minutes before Shouta here arrived at his office."
Hizashi nodded, "As much as I hate to admit it, we might have to get the rat involved."
"He's a stoat mixed with red panda and dog."
They turned to find Izuku coming in with a box in his arms, Katsuki and Masaru bringing up the rear. "What did you say, kiddo?" Oboro asked, taking one of the boxes from the elder Bakugo. Izuku giggled, "Nedzu. He's not a rat. He's a stoat mixed with red panda bear and dog." Shouta sighed, "Well, you'll have to ask him when you meet him. We'll need his help getting your quirk registered as well as any quirk counseling you might need. As qualified as I am, he's better. Especially when it comes to intellectual quirks."
Izuku nodded, "Which room is going to be mine? Kacchan can help me unpack while you adults talk more." Oboro grinned, jumping up and down excitedly. "Oh! Let me show you to your room. When Sho told us that he was bringing you by, I went and make sure the room was cleaned up. It was the guest room at first so our friends used to use it, but now it's yours." Izuku heard his uncle snort. "More like we needed to make sure Nem didn't leave anything behind."
The two teens exchanged confused glances before Izuku shrugged, following the cloud hero into a room down the hallway. The room was bigger than his old one at Inko's and the bed was definitely nicer. He had a closet and a dresser too and his desk was sitting there in the corner just waiting for someone to do stuff on it. Katsuki whistled beside him. "Damn nerd. This room is nicer than your old one." The blonde turned to Oboro, "Thanks, I guess. I'll help the nerd put his stuff away."
Oboro snorted, "Sure, sure. I'll get to work on dinner for everyone and when you guys are done, feel free to roam and explore. The bedroom at the end of the hall is ours, but if you want to glance inside, feel free." He left the room, closing it firmly and leaving the two teens to get settled.

Dinner that night was great, full of funny stories and of learning. Shouta found that his nephew was smart, kind and funny, and that once Izuku got comfortable with someone, he grew sassy too. Something they had in common. Honestly, Izuku reminded Shouta of himself when he was 15. They had the same sense of self, the same kind of humor, and honestly, if Izuku's features were black, they'd look like father and son.
Izuku, on the other hand, learned that his grandfather was still alive. Shouta mentioned that the man had always regretted losing touch with Inko after the divorce. Shouta's ability to keep somewhat of an eye on his sister was only so that he could tell their father how the woman was doing, though he didn't know exacts. Introducing Izuku to the man was something that needed to happen. Izuku also found out that Oboro had been adopted by none other than Nedzu, the principal of UA himself after the bluenette's parents passed away in a villain attack during their second year. Apparently, a building had fallen on them, leaving their 16 year old son alone in the world.
Later, once the Bakugos had left and things had winded down, Izuku stood in front of Shouta and his new uncles and asked a very important question.
"Do you think I could be a hero too?"
Shouta tilted his head, "Why do you want to be a hero?" He asked the teen, ignoring for a moment the question he himself had been asked. The corner of Izuku's mouth tilted upwards, "I want to help people. I've seen the side of society that hurts those with undesirable quirks or even none at all and I really think that if someone were to just change the image of those people, then the world would be better for it." Shouta simply smiled, "Then yes. I think you could be a wonderful hero. Maybe not a popular one, but a hero nonetheless."
Izuku grinned, the brightness of his joy nearly blinding. "Thanks Uncle Sho!" He chirpped, hugging the man. Oboro snorted, "Papa is requesting that we bring the green bean by his office tomorrow around lunchtime. He's offered to help us test and file for Izuku's quirk. The good news is that it is easier to do so than it would if he was in the system as not having one at all, though not impossible." Oboro smiled at Izuku, "Ready to meet one of your grandfathers?"
The teen nodded, "I want to ask him if he's a stoat." The adults laughed, pulling the teen closer. "That's fine, kiddo." Hizashi giggled. Shouta groaned, "Ugg, that means we should be getting to bed then." Izuku snorted, getting up off of the adults. He faced his uncles. "Thank you for taking me in. I know I've only known the three of you for today, but already I feel more loved than I ever did with mom." He hugged his Uncle Shouta one last time. "Love you, Uncle Sho. Good night." Without waiting for an answer, Izuku twirled, running off to his room and closing the door soundly behind him.
Hizashi and Oboro smirked at the bluescreened Shouta.
"Aww, you hear that Sho? The little listener loves you." Hizashi cheered, shoulder nudging the dark-haired man. Oboro giggled, "Oh he heard. Can't you see, he's speechless!" Shouta snapped out of it, a syrupy grin on his face. "Dad's going to love him."

Izuku smiled as he looked at the piece of paper in his hands. It had taken a few months of training, but they finally figured out what his quirk actually did. Katsuki was right, his analysis was definitely part of his quirk. He'd already gained a mentor in his Grand-Paw, the stoat cackling wildly whenever Izuku beat him in chess. His Grandpa Ataki was already helping Uncle Shouta teach him and Katsuki different forms for fighting hand to hand as well as helping with their quirks. The two were excited to start UA soon.
Inko had been brought back to Japan and tried for not only lying on official government papers but also for child abandonment. Nedzu had taken a special interest in bringing the full force of the law on top of both her and the Aldera School District.
Things were looking positive for the future.
