Work Text:
Jason’s careful with food. He always has been. He cuts up his food into small bites so it feels like more than it is, and he always saves half his meal for later, just in case Bruce or Alfred forget to feed him. It hasn’t happened yet, not since he moved into the manor, but it used to happen a lot with Mom, so he wants to be sure. He hates going to bed hungry.
He hides food a lot. He puts his tupperwares at the very back of the ridiculous fridge in Bruce’s kitchen, where no one will be able to find it. He takes boxes of cereal bars and hides them under the shelves in the pantry. He hides fruit in his backpack and wraps food in napkins for later.
A few weeks into living in the manor, he started keeping food in the drawer underneath his wardrobe. Mostly stuff that wouldn’t go bad too fast.
When he and Bruce fought, he’d lock himself in his room and count his provisions, trying to work out how long he could survive if Bruce stopped feeding him.
It never happened - they always resolved things eventually - but Jason never stopped worrying.
