Work Text:

The four of them fit too perfectly together, in his opinion. A deep shudder ran down his spine as a tongue licked across him, squeezing his hands around his Shadow tighter. Sonic stared into heavy lidded dark eyes, and moaned.

He's not sure how they ended up in this situation. It isn't another shatter incident, but the world they've been plunged into certainly isn't theirs. Everything in this strange alternate timeline seems off. Too peaceful. Too quiet. Too small.

It's not exactly a universe without their powers. The other Sonic is still just as fast, but he didn't have a clue about the world ending threats they had been through. This Shadow is scary powerful, matching everything his Shadow throws at him without the emeralds or anything. When they're finally able to break the Shadows apart, it becomes clear how different they all are. He's not even a hybrid, scoffs when called the Ultimate Lifeform.

The other two are just regular hedgehogs. No mention of the ARK, no big city adventures and near-death misses. They've got an Eggman, but Sonic just groans at the name, citing little more than nuisances compared to the world-ending plots they've dealt with. Despite the way he's incredibly wary of the other two (what's the point of all that power if there's no need to save the world?), Sonic recounts everything that might have led them there.

"You're not totally useless." Sonic had said to him, turning his face in his hand. "Only other Sonic I've met was pathetic."

"You're always pathetic." That strange, tall Shadow had snapped back, even harsher than he had ever heard his Shadow. Even though that Shadow wasn't directing his anger at him, it made his own ears pin back with the sudden need to apologize. He had once broken an entire multiverse and Shadow hadn't sneered at him like that. The other Sonic hadn't even flinched, brushing off the comment like it was nothing.

Maybe it made sense that they'd been the ones brave enough to initiate this... experiment. When night fell, and they were all gathered by the beach (because this Sonic had a real house, even if it was a doorless hut), curiosity got the better of them and they fell into this strange tension.

"So." This world's Sonic had started it all, long legs crossed over each other where he sat on the floor. "You two seem... close."

From the opposite end of the couch his Shadow was sitting, straight backed and hands circled into fists, Sonic shrugged. "If you had been through what we'd been through... yeah, I guess we are."

A loud scoff came from behind them, and both new hedgehogs spun to see the other Shadow lounging in Sonic's hammock. "You're both idiots. Cowards, too."

"Hey!"

"Please. The way you keep skirting around each other is painfully obvious." Ropes creaked, heavy footsteps shook the old floorboards. "They're not like us."

Looming over his own Sonic, Shadow sank to his knees, possessively encircling his arms around him. He nipped at blue ears, ran his tongue over sharp quills, and that Sonic wasn't batting him away. He sat there, slight blush on his cheeks, and awkwardly laughed.

"Shads..."

"Come on." Shadow had glared directly at his mirror self, met with the same intense stare. "You know what you want."

And maybe, that was when Sonic let himself wonder. His alternate didn't seem to mind, even with the scary Shadow so close to his person. He didn't push him away, or let that blush make his thoughts stutter. He had leaned into the touch, squirming ever so slightly, and smiled.

"It doesn't have to mean anything." The other Shadow hissed, but the far away look in Sonic's eye meant that was a lie. "Don't you want him?"

Sonic watched as sharp teeth grazed over an ear as blue as his own, could feel the phantom pressure as if he was the one under the dangerous attention. A hushed whisper, loud as a bullhorn in the tense silence, cut through the air.

"Go to him."

Other Sonic was on his Shadow. The other him had crawled over to his partner, spreading dark knees open and pressing his face inside. His Shadow hadn't pushed him away, hadn't told him to stop, and was just staring down at him with intense dark eyes that made his stomach churn.

"Oh." Other Sonic had murmured, petting over his Shadow's slit, touching him places he hadn't even. "That's different."

Sonic was jealous.

He hadn't even noticed when the scary Shadow moved by his side, jumping at the first touch of claws to his skin. "You want this too, don't you?"

He bit his lip.

"Ha!" The bark of laughter startled him again, but when hands moved over his shoulders he didn't run, "What, want to wait for the real thing? Don't want a clone?"

"Not a clone." His Shadow had snapped, because, yeah, he had a pretty good idea about that. "Whatever you two are, you're not us."

"That's for sure." Other Sonic had smirked, pink tongue darting out to lick between Shadow's legs. Other Shadow had mirrored the gesture with his finger on Sonic's slit, humming when he drew out a shiver. "Wanna see what we can do?"

And so they ended up... here. Sonic's paws grabbing at his hips, Shadow's chest pressed against him, the second Shadow hovering behind. His Shadow was a whimpering mess, and, oh, what it had taken to get him there. Sonic wasn't faring any better, each thrust of his alternate's tongue inside of him leaving him breathless, the flick over his folds leaving his legs shaking.

His Shadow's fur was ruffled where his mirror self held his waist, shoving him down on the other Sonic's cock. He had never known his Shadow was like him. Now that he did, he couldn't help but wonder how he could get those sounds to spill from his mouth once more if he wasn't like the two hedgehogs they were squished between. Shadow squeezed his eyes tighter, panting hard, and buried his face into Sonic's chest. Oh.

How the other Sonic was so skillful when he himself was getting fucked was beyond him. Alternate Shadow, who only seemed to be showing a semblance of mercy for their sake, rammed into his Sonic so hard it reverberated all the way through to him. Each thrust sent trembles down his own spine. If he stopped staring at his own Shadow, he'd meet blood red eyes (so different from warm, almost brown), and the sharp shudder that rocked his body would bring him too close to the edge.

His Shadow couldn't keep up much longer. He was still holding back, that determined look on his face keeping him from breaking. As scary as his other self was, he was murmuring something soft and reassuring into his ear, too quiet for Sonic to hear. His Shadow shuddered, dark paws running up his sides and wrapping around him.

"Go on. You know you want to."

When deep red met brilliant green again, something seemed to click. His Shadow leaned forward, almost cautiously. Their noses bumped together, so, so close now, one press away from tumbling over the deep end. It felt like he was sinking under water, being turned this way and that, every sensation swirling around his head like the waves. Except, this time, he didn't fear drowning.

Shadow was the one that took the final leap. It was sharp, like if he thought too much he'd stop himself again, when he pressed his lips to Sonic's. Lips against his, parting open and asking for permission, tongue sliding along the seam and teeth nipping the edges. Sonic gladly let him in, moaning into the kiss like it was all that mattered. His Shadow. Kissing him. Shaking from how hard he was getting fucked, but still only had eyes for him. It was sloppy, uncoordinated, but theirs.

Like dominoes, they all fell. He was the first to let go, thighs squeezing around Sonic's muzzle, jerking his hips as his body felt like it was coming apart. Other Sonic led him through it, rumbling laughter vibrating his core. He cried into Shadow's mouth, felt strong arms pull him off of Sonic's face, and he honestly couldn't tell which Shadow was pulling him close.

No longer distracted, the alternate Sonic let himself get lost in the pleasure, moans unhindered by warm folds. He wasn't hesitant, or self conscious, or anything Sonic felt, shouting Shadow's name so loud he was afraid they'd be overheard. There was no one out there but them, and when Sonic grabbed blindly onto the bodies in front of him, he rutted up into tight heat.

He came undone next. With a sharp shout, something squirted onto Sonic's belly, sticky and wet and—oh. His Shadow was shaking, squirting silently as alternate Sonic leaked out of him, messy and dripping and still holding onto him so tight.

They only had a moment to breath. He was still shivering when Shadow pushed them both off his Sonic, none too gently. Clinging to each other, they tumbled to the floor, ignoring the other hedgehogs as they rutted against each other.

"Shadow..." Sonic murmured, smoothing out ruffled fur. He couldn't think of anything else to say, burying his face into his Shadow's neck.

His Shadow didn't have an answer, chest rising and falling as he caught his breath. It was clear he was still trying to hold himself together, too proud to fall victim to his instinct and let himself be so used. The sounds the other two were making weren't helping, high pitched whines and low grunts as they made their experience with each other's bodies known. When their ragged cries finally came to a crescendo, Shadow let his claws dig into Sonic's shoulders.

Even though he had been the one on the verge of tears, it was him that started to brush through Sonic's fur, tongue combing over his quills, grooming him. This felt even more intimate than anything the other two had done to them, and with a small sigh, Sonic reciprocated.

Their small moment together felt so short, cut too soon, when his Shadow pulled away. The harsh noises had come to an end, nothing but heavy pants and weak whimpers getting lost to the sound of crashing waves.

Shadow, at the very least, sat him upright before pulling away. The emptiness inside of him felt like a chasm as he watched his Shadow stand and convene with the other, both Shadows leaving their Sonics to fend for themselves. Even alternate versions seemed to harbor that cold independence he couldn't help but love.

His Shadow caught his eye, and Sonic smiled at him. Whatever conversation he was having with his mirror paused for only a second, and then his dark eyes were off of him. Sighing to himself, Sonic started to brush through his own fur. Lots to think about.

Even though he felt so spent, more tired than even after a long run, there was still an ember in his core that hadn't seemed to go out. He wanted more, wanted those sweet sounds to spill out of his Shadow's mouth by his own hand, wanted to feel his body against his. He glanced at his alternate, chest still heaving from how hard he and his Shadow had gone, and felt a strange longing.

Despite it all, the tension in the room had seemed to dissipate. The quiet was comfortable. It only felt like a reprieve, though, and when Sonic shifted to his knees, the press of his thighs left him sensitive and squirming.

"Switch?" Other Sonic asked, arm over his eyes and crooked smile on his face like he wasn't dripping cum and his legs weren't shaking. "I want to see that one choke on my cock. Who knows when I'll get such a submissive Shadow again."

"Don't get too comfortable." Alternate Shadow had snapped, almost protectively, but squished his mirror's mouth open anyway. "We should give them a chance to practice their skills on each other."
