Chapter Text
Fred and George Weasley were just shy of a year and a half old when their soulmate was born.
Molly Weasley walked into her twin boys’ bedroom early in the morning on September 19th, 1979. Usually the twins were earlier risers, and made sure to let the whole house know they were awake and ready to cause trouble; the fact that there was almost complete silence on the other side of their door was concerning.
Heart in her throat as to what she might find–her mind going to the worst case scenarios–she stopped short at the sight that greeted her. Both twins were awake and looking at, between them, a golden glow.
They were holding hands like they usually did, but this time, their inner wrists were glowing: Fred’s left and George’s right.
Molly hustled over to her twins, eyes wide, and looked at their wrists closer. She leaned closer to her sons, not touching their wrists–having a soulmate was extremely rare and deeply intimate; it would be very invasive to touch another’s soulmate mark, even if they were babies.
Squinting slightly, Molly could just barely make out the words “ excuse me” on George’s wrist, and “ has anyone seen a toad?” on Fred’s.
At the same time, in another part of Britain, Jean Granger gave one more cry, squeezing the life out of her husband Dan’s hand, and Hermione Granger was brought into the world, her wrists glowing softly, the words “ sorry, dearest ” on her left wrist, and “ haven’t seen one ” on her right.
