Summary
Daemon Targaryen has made many mistakes in a long life he'd grown tired of living. He makes one final sacrifice to rid the world of himself while giving his beloved niece-wife, Rhaenyra, the best chance to win the war and crown. He never wanted her to hate him the way she did currently, but he could do nothing about it. And so he died.
He did not expect a second chance.
But when he got one, he decided to make it count.
