Chapter Text

Hinata shivered. He tried his absolute best to keep focused on the posts he was swiping through on his phone and pretend not to feel Kiyoomi staring holes into the back of his head.

He was sitting on the floor before the couch, his legs crossed. The mate mark Kiyoomi had placed on his neck ages ago itched under the intensity of his gaze. The Alpha scrutinizef him from his place on the couch ever since they had gotten home.

By now the air was so full of tension one could cut it with a knife. While Hinata tried his best to act normal Kiyoomi made no secret of his suspicions.

From the hallway the noise of the door falling into its lock and clicking shut echoed through the flat. The lively voice of Atsumu filled their home at once as he teased Kageyama, who grumbled something under his breath in a torn that betrayed even without their bond confirming it that he was utterly flustered.

Atsumu had separated from them after practice on their way home to pick up Tobio. Perhaps that's where the problem had started as Hinata didn't went to enthusiastically join him as usually.

The blonde hadn't minded but he paused abruptly and almost comically now as he stepped into the living room trying to make sense of the scene. Kageyama walked in past him though the dark haired setter didn't seem to notice anything amiss until the bond stopped him by his wrist.
"Okay... What is going on?"

Confused he looked to his mate, who was now looking between Sakusa and Hinata sceptically, visibly not buying Hinata's act one bit.

It was like he had opened a flood gate.

"He almost fainted on the way home."

"Did not!" The omega protested.

Hinata's reply came to fast betraying his supposed calm. Kageyama's head perked up and he frowned concerned.
"You fainted?"

"I just tripped."

"That's not what it looked like to me." Sakusa argued.

Hinata pouted. Pouted! He looked at Sakusa with betrayal in his eyes but his Alpha didn't even soften up one bit. At once their two setters' scents spiked with worry. It was made all the more intense by just having taken off their scent patches and highlighted one other thing; Hinata hadn't.

Usually they didn't wear scent patches at home. Scent patches were a matter of security and not cause mass reactions in public when panicked for example. Pheromones could trigger old pack responses that were not adapted for the size cities had grown too.

But to wear scent patches at home send... mixed signals. Sakusa's eyes narrowed.
"You're hiding something."

"Am not..." He tried holding firm.

It sounded far less convincing and at once Atsumu had dropped his bag and surrounded the couch to inspect their Omega. Hinata's cheeks flushed red as he could sense his worry before he was pulled into Kageyama's arms from behind. What was he thinking getting himself into a relationship with three alphas?

"Shoyo, if something is wrong you can tell us. What ever it is we'll help as best as we can." Atsumu urged gently.

Kageyama hummed affirmatively and nuzzled at the soft orange curls as if searching for the scent Hinata kept mostly hidden. Helplessly teh spiker let himself fall into their arms. It felt too good to be smothered by them and he really did just want to rest and be tugged up in their arms but...

"Argh, this exactly what I tried to avoid! You always get so overly worried when I'm sick and—"

"You're sick?"
Sakusa perked up in alert and leaned closer as if trying to gauge exactly what had dared infect his Omega and fight it personally.

"No! I just felt a little light-headed and exhausted. I get that too sometimes."

None of them looked like they believed him. Kageyama especially seemed confused and tried to mentally find a memory of Hinata getting just exhausted, visibly coming to teh conclusion that the only memory he had of that was when he ran the fever during nationals in highschool and promptly hugged him closer.

"You're impossible..."
He gave up and was promptly tugged up in a blanket and surrounded by pillows on the couch. Kiyoomi pulled him into his arms protectively and placed a kiss through his mask to the crown of his hair while Kageyama went out to get snacks and tea and Atsumu to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
"You know that your being overdramatic, right? I don't even have a cough."

"Hm-hm, better catch it before it breaks out."

Hinata sighed and let himself sink into the embrace, grumbling something under his breath.

"Hm?" The taller inquired.

"I said, you are stubborn, knotheaded Alphas!"

Kiyoomi chuckled softly and nuzzled against his cheek affectionately effectively making the Omega melt. He loved his stupid Alphas even if they could be a handful. And he loved being pampered by them at home while competing with them on the court. He's not sure he could have ever been with someone not equally obsessed with volleyball.

.
.
.

His mystery ailment never did develop into something more serious and as he proved to be fine teh next morning his mates had no choice but let him go to practice with them. He felt Sakusa's and Atsumu's gaze follow him throughout the day but tried not to let it distract him. It hit him again that evening but this time he did a better job of hiding it, anticipating the reaction.

He had noticed the pattern before his Alphas as his urge to nest suddenly grew. It was this that kept him from jumping to suspecting an illness but at first he just assumed it was a disregulation in his cycle rather than something serious.

Only as the pattern continued did he eventually steal himself away under the guise of visiting Kenma to buy a pregnancy test. He did actually end up visiting his best friend while his mates were out of the house for a date Kenma decided to skip because he had a bad day.

At first Hinata was about to turn around as he heard but the gamer assured him in was fine, he was just in no state to leave the house. When opened the door he looked tired and disheveled; his hair was greasy and put up in a bun but he gave Hinata a soft smile and let him inside.
"So what has you running from your mates today?"

"Hey! Who said I was running?"

Kenma lifted his eyebrow sceptically and looked him up and down.
"Just about everything about you."

Hinata blushed and followed him inside grumbling, causing the other to let out an amused huff. His blush darkened as he explained everything and presented the handful of tests he had brought.

Kenma blinked. He took it all in and let out a deep sigh before a quite surprised chuckled followed his story.
"Gotta say I didn't expect this from you out of all people."

"Omega athletes can have children and come back... Others have done it..." Hinata mumbled in response.

Kenma hummed affirmatively as he let himself sink back into his nest.
"Yeah, I wouldn't worry about that. You're the last person who'd let anything keep you from the volleyball court. Just didn't take you for maternal person."

The spiker chuckled nervously.
"Well, I did end up basically helping to raise my sister. I think I was so focused on volleyball I never considered it but... I wouldn't be mad if... If it's positive you know."

"Hm-hm, what do your mates think?"

"Ah.. weeeeeellll, I haven't exactly told them yet."

"Figures. Alright, let's read these instructions."

Hinata let out a breath of relief. He wasn't surprised but it was still nice to see it confirmed; Kenma never judged him. He knew that the other absolutely did not have a single positive bone for pregnancy in his body and wasn't making a secret out of that but he would always have his back.
"Thanks Kenma."

The other Omega didn't reply and just proceeded to help him figure this out. Hinata took two of the tests at once and then another as both came positive. He stared at the third before giving a nervous chuckles again.

"I'm sorry Kenma, looks like your sponsored athlete will have to take a break."
He felt his own voice waver a little when suddenly a hand lay itself on top of his head and as he looked up Kenma smiled softly at him as he petted through the orange curls.

"Don't you worry about that. I said I'd sponsor you as long as you kept surprising me, didn't I?"

"You said as long as I didn't bore you."

The gamer rolled his eyes.
"Same thing, this certainly isn't boring and definitely surprising."

Hinata smiled back gratefully and felt a tear slip from his eyes. He restrained from hugging Kenma, knowing it might not be welcome on a bad day but leaned into his touch.
"Thank you."

"Always."

...

They stayed like this for a while while the sky outside turned slowly a soft orange and as the pink accents grew Hinata eventually got up with a sigh.
"I better get him before they get worried, they think I'm getting sick."

Hinata chuckled and stretched his limbs. Kenma looked up from his bed half asleep.
"Are you gonna tell them?"

"Not yet, we have a game the end of next week and I don't want to interfere with their focus because of some stupid instincts. It's still early, I'll be fine."

Kenma frowned a little but nodded.
"Just..."
He got up and while Hinata watched him confused he made a call. He didn't quite understand what he was doing until he turned back and handed him a note.
"I made an appointment for you at this clinic. They are the best in the area for maternal care and can squeeze in tomorrow at 8:30. They'll do a check up and prescribe you prenatal vitamins. It's already paid for."

"Kenma?! I can't accept that!"

"Too late. Consider it part of your sponsorship. I'm just making sure my favourite athlete has the best conditions to return healthy and strong."
Now Hinata did cry and Kenma carefully reached out for a brief hug. He scented him gently before letting go.
"You're my best friend Shoyo, one of the few I have. Let me do this for you and make sure to schedule a follow up."

"Okay... How did you even know?"
His voice was wet with tears but his smile was beaming.

"Know what?"

"That they were the best?"

"Oh... Keiji was doing some research is all."
Now Kenma was blushing and Hinata could barely contain himself at the implications. Still he held his tongue and said his goodbyes before embarking on his way home.
