Look At Me

Summary:

Jake doesn't know why he can't look Jay in the eyes.

Notes:

Hello there!!! It's me again within a new fic even though I have like 2 other fics that are ongoing right now. I just can't help myself, when my brain thinks of ideas, I just have to write them and put them out into the void. So if anyone likes this, thank you for sticking with me and my all over the place brain. I have this fic set at 7 chapters right now, but that could change. It could be less or more, your guess is as good as mine lol. Please leave comments & kudos :) Thank you <333

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Cornered

Chapter Text

“Jake-hyung, you okay?” Jungwon asked him after they all got back to the dorm.

“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m good, Won.” Jake said distractedly as he started packing for their trip to Taipei for the PRADA show.

“Are you sure?” Jungwon asked him again, which implied that he didn’t believe a word that Jake was saying.

Stopping what he was doing, Jake looked up at Jungwon who was leaning against his bedroom doorframe with his arms folded across his chest, his head slightly tilted and an eyebrow lifted in question.

“Uh yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?” Jake said curious as to why Jungwon was asking him this.

“You were being weird during that segment we did at Studio Choom. When it was Jay-hyung’s turn, you didn’t even look at him once. You just stared off into space. Did something happen? Are you guys fighting?” Jungwon questioned him.

Jake had a feeling this was Jungwon being in his leader mode and wanting to make sure that everyone within the team was okay and that there was no tension between them. When there was tension, the team’s balance was off. And it was never good when the team’s balance was off.

He hated that Jungwon was calling him out on it right now. When they did that segment, he hoped that he was playing it off well as the rest of the members were making jokes about it during the filming and laughing about it, but now that Jungwon was bringing it up he felt cornered.

“Me and Jay-ah are fine, Won. Nothing to worry about.” Jake said with a smile that he hoped was convincing enough.

Jungwon stared at him for a beat too long that was making him anxious.

Nodding, Jungwon said, “Alright, if you say so. But seriously, if something is wrong, don’t let it fester too long okay? I’m here if you need anything.”

With a grateful smile, he nodded and said, “Thanks Won.I appreciate it, but everything’s fine.”

Jungwon lifted off the doorframe and walked back towards the common area.

Not looking at Jay was causing him problems but looking at him would cause even more problems that he wasn’t ready to admit.
