He lowers the phone, and Hayden instantly launches into his rambling before Shane can get a word in. “Listen, I saw you were panicking, and you were so far away that you were barely responding, so I thought I’d call your girl, I thought maybe she knew how to help you better or she could talk to you, I thought–I don’t fucking know what I was thinking, but then he picked up the phone, and–”
“How do you know my passcode?” Shane asks again.
“That’s what you’re focusing on?” Hayden is basically yelling at this point. “Rozanov is screwing your girlfriend, and you’re worried about how I know your fucking passcode?”
Shane’s brain fully short-circuits.
“Rozanov is what?”
Or: Shane accidentally wears Ilya’s jersey to his team practice. The Voyageurs react about as well as is to be expected, and Hayden jumps to some very confident and very incorrect conclusions. -
