“What in the world are you talking about?” Scar chuckled, offering the kid a warm smile.
“Y’know - he’s always been here. Ask Bdubs, he’ll tell you! Season 9 started and - BAM! Tommy was here!” Etho insisted.
“Weird - I would’ve thought Xisuma would’ve mentioned it,” Scar admitted, scratching the back of his head, unsure of what to make of the claim.
“Well - um - you see!”
“It’s a game?” The teenager suggested awkwardly, his voice low and frightened. “Like…”
“Hide and seek!” Etho finished, nodding his head vigorously.

“And everyone is so old,” Tubbo complains. Somehow, without them knowing about it, Tubbo’s managed to swipe a waffle and is chewing on it happily. Sapnap stifles a laugh. “Well, not everyone, I guess- the kid in our room is our age, I think. He might be younger.”
Wilbur perks up. “Does he ice skate?”
“Yeah, he does. He’s got these sick skates and everything.” Tubbo explains. “He’s quiet though. We tried talking to him, but…”
“But?”
Tubbo shrugs. "He's quiet. He doesn't talk much. I guess he's busy."
or, Tommy's made it to the Olympics for figure skating- he's the youngest contestant on the ice and he's the favor for the gold. He's supposed to be living the dream. So why is he still so unhappy? And why do all these hockey players and snowboarders care so much about him?

“W-what is this place?” He asked quietly, holding himself closer together due to the cold.
“It’s a door shop,” The worker gave him a lazy smile, “Here, you should really try a boomberry. We just had them picked. Unless you’d rather a wurpleberry?”
“The man in the stupid bucket hat said not to,” Tommy stared at the berries cautiously, as if they would come to life and jump at him at any moment, “I’d rather not turn into a table or something.”
“Nah, Phil is just a killjoy,” The other man, Wilbur if he remembered properly, waved him off, “It won’t turn you into a table, promise.”
“Well why should I trust you?” He snarked as the other’s grin twisted into something more devious.
“Well why should you trust Phil? We’re both equal strangers to you, aren’t we?” The taller man hummed, tapping away at a typewriter that made flute noises with each button, “Unless you’re chicken?”
(In which Tommy moves to this dreary, small town and finds a door shop.)

Summary
But Wilbur is a ball and chain in the middle of the sea, slowly but steadily dragging himself down to the ocean floor with Tommy unknowingly trapped inside his cuff. It’s unfair that Tommy has had to drown with Wilbur for so many years, desperately trying to swim both of them back to the surface. It’s fruitless, and Tommy wonders sometimes if it would be better to just cut the chain that binds them together. To let Wilbur sink on his own, while Tommy heads for air.
He could never do that though; as much as he wants to. He’ll let Wilbur sink them both, and Tommy will swim and thrash as the surface grows more and more distant. Hoping and wishing for a lifeboat. For someone to help them to shore, and to pull Tommy’s freezing body into their warm, loving arms and drape a towel over his wet shoulders.
He thinks Phil might be that person, Techno too. Tommy wants to let them be and he wishes for Wilbur to want that too.
OR: Wilbur and Tommy are brothers in the foster system. Wilbur is struggling with addiction, Tommy is always left to pick up the pieces. But now with Techno and Phil here, hopefully they’ll be able to help. (Only Wilbur does not want help.)

Tommy becomes reckless as a new hero and is caught repeatedly putting himself in danger. His team is concerned, one of them so much so that he's angry with Tommy. They just don't understand why he's doing these things, and he doesn't intend to explain it to them.

Tommy is very (very) sad and he starts caring less about surviving villain fights.

Summary
Wilbur was exhausted. It was raining and his throat hurt and with every step, Tommy was getting heavier in his arms. But he’d already made the kid walk so far today and in all honesty, Wilbur would rather deal with sore arms than a six year old’s tears of exhaustion.
Finally, Wilbur stumbled onto the street they tentatively— and illegally— called home. It was lined with identical townhouses, one of which was currently empty. They’d been squatting in it for nearly a month now. It wasn’t the safest place they’d ever slept, but when it came to insulating them from the winter chill, Wilbur would give it five stars on any hotel website.
Unfortunately, the window he climbed through was not the one they'd been using these past few weeks. This window belonged to the most terrifying man Wilbur had ever laid eyes on.
Or, while on the run, Wilbur and Tommy accidentally break into the wrong house. Technoblade finds them asleep in his living room. Family ensues.

“I should go,” Tommy murmurs. He’s fidgeting with something on his wrist that Wilbur can’t see. “I should go.”
It sounds less like he wants to, and more like he’s trying to convince himself that he has to.
“You could,” Wilbur says. He tries to sound indifferent. “But it’s not like I’m gonna kick you out or anything if you want to stay.”
Tommy looks at him. His eyes are blue, bright blue, a blue brighter than the sky when the sun beams down at noon. “I can stay?” He’s quiet, and hesitant, and that hurts more than the words themselves.
Or: A kid keeps showing up at Wilbur's cafe. Against his better judgement, Wilbur gets attached.
