Like a magnet to iron, Steve's eyes are drawn to Eddie again, still slouched in the passenger seat, chewing on a strand of his ratty mullet. Eddie may be the realest person he's ever met. Everything about him reeks of verisimilitude, of a rawness that taunts Steve and the carefully constructed crown he's tried so hard to leave behind.
It isn't in his nature. Steve is made of brick and bone, a wall around everyone he's ever loved, and that's all that matters, in the end.-
Steve Harrington has never known love to go two ways. It's always him giving and everything else taking and taking and taking, and the Upside Down has taken more than anything.
It almost takes Chrissy Cunningham too, when Eddie Munson invites her to his trailer to buy drugs.
She lives.

Or, Steve is a runaway Omega who gets a job at an Omega café, where he’s basically paid to curl up and purr in Alphas’ laps (like a cat café🐈⬛) It’s legal, and he earns a living, rents his own place. He’s getting along fine for a packless Omega. Then Alpha rockstar Eddie Munson turns up for an hour of ‘kitty’ petting, and shatters Steve’s fragile little world...

Steve seems to view Princess more as his literal baby than a dog. She’s ascended beyond the status of a canine. She seems to represent the entire earth to Steve. And is Eddie jealous of a dog? No, that would be stupid. He’s thrilled by how happy Steve is, how soundly he’s sleeping.
But is Eddie suspicious of a dog? Indeed.

“Don’t make him look at that!” Steve objects, and Dustin has to agree.

“You want me to apply this liberally to your hair from root to tip?” Eddie offers, shaking the bottle, trying to convey to Steve that he won’t make fun of him. Although maybe he still sounds like he’s making fun of him. “It’s just, uh–earlier you told Robin that raising your arms hurts so I thought…”
Steve looks at him, expression unreadable. It’s probably weird, what Eddie’s doing. Standing in Steve Harrington’s bathroom is weird enough without the additional presumption that Steve would want him prolonging this experience. He really should’ve left the second Steve proved himself capable of showering alone, but–
“Well we can’t use that one until my hair is damp, not wet.” Steve plucks the bottle from Eddie’s hand and promptly swaps it out for a smaller white one. “We can’t really do anything with my hair right now, it just needs to air dry. Um, I do kinda need it out of the way, though. If we’re gonna fix my face.”

“You are such a fucking asshole.” Steve says, but again there’s no venom behind his words. It comes out like an observational statement, like they’re back in Freshman year biology marking down the anatomy of the frog they dissected. Looks like spaghetti, Steve had said while they stared down at the guts in front of them, and even now Tommy can’t eat spaghetti without thinking of it. “You know, believe it or not, Eddie doesn’t treat people the way you do. He wouldn’t even think to.”
Tommy scoffs, does an eye roll of his own. “Yeah, I’m sure he’s real sweet to people before he gouges their eyes out."

Wayne does often say Eddie’ll make a terrible poker player. No mystique, he’s often said, which made Eddie quietly stress for weeks afterwards that he’s accidentally been giving away the twists in his campaign with unconcealed facial expressions. Beleaguered, he has no choice but to be fully and completely honest with Steve, which, he’s found in their lengthening interactions lately, Steve does not like.
“I thought it was funny how you very carefully calculated how long of a stride you’d need to take to avoid that puddle.” Eddie answers, and Steve’s brows predictably furrow, the way they always do when he regards Eddie.
