Summary
Stan Pines is the beloved, quirky old man of Gravity Falls. He runs the Mystery Shack at the edge of town, a museum of the mystical and mysterious filled with amazing magical creatures that delight everyone who comes by. Despite his age, his head is half-shaved and covered with tattoos. More than a few rebellious teens in the area idolize him for ignoring trends and being wholly unfazed by what people think of his eccentricities.
There are a surprising number of things he keeps under wraps though. Things that his family aren't willing to just let him brush under the rug once they notice them.
Because, if the Pines family would be known for one thing, it was their insatiable curiosity. (Or, possibly, their inability to mind their own business.)
Or
Stan is the Cackling Cannoneer from the Season of Abyss and that changes more than people would expect.

Stan winces and tries to rub away the pain in his temples. He wishes he could go back to sleep. Ford’s been snoring since the instant the sun dipped below the horizon, and Stan’s not usually jealous of his brother’s sleep schedule, but tonight’s the exception.
The memory hits all at once, like a train or a bus or a whole fucking jet airliner crashing directly into Stan’s brain at top speed, on fire and alarms blaring and world-endingly bright. Ford sighs again, this time more tired than frustrated. “How about New York, then?”
A pit opens up in Stan’s stomach. He doesn’t want to go to New York either. He doesn’t say anything, and Ford groans.
“Stanley,” he presses. “We need to stop somewhere.”
Stan tries to find a reason, even if just for himself, that he doesn’t want to go. He had good memories there, for the most part. She was young, in her prime, going to bars every night and sleeping with whoever she wanted. She was happy.
Finally, he shrugs. “Yeah. Do what you gotta do.”

“Oh shit, forgot to tell you, I - I reunited with my family or whatever. I live with them now. Morty’s my grandson,” Rick says, fishing his portal gun out of his coat. Stan gapes at him, stunned, as the weapon projects a swirly green nebula on his kitchen wall and Rick vanishes through it, leaving behind only the dregs of his coffee and the faint smell of sulfur.
