“It’s fine,” Hermes cut him off. “He’s fine. It’s not worth getting annoyed about.” Thalia shifted her arm, and Luke’s hand slid down to where they could both hold onto one another. If Hermes noticed, he didn’t mention it. “Sorry to drop in unannounced, but you two-” He nodded towards Thalia, and Percy pressing against her side, “-are being summoned to Olympus.”

Your skills and knowledge shall be put to the test with every step - but should you succeed, and retrieve one of the Golden Apples for Hermes, the reward will be equally great.” Then he dropped his ‘wise and ancient mentor’ voice, and said more warmly, “For what it is worth, I wish you good luck.”

Summary
As best they’d been able to figure, it started in the Hermes cabin.
The Apollo campers, gods love ‘em, emptied out the Big House infirmary and went mobile. Those who fell ill were banished back to their cabin, but the rest maintained the closest they could get to hospital protective gear and delivered soup, drinks, and other necessities to everyone else. Kids caught in the spiked fever phase were wiped down repeatedly with cold wet washcloths, while those wracked by dry heaving got the same pressed firmly against the backs of their necks.
But that meant a lot of cold wet cloth constantly warming up and drying out, which meant a fresh supply of ice water was badly needed.
Hence Thalia, decked out like a background extra in a post-apocalypse film, lugging heavy buckets up to the cabins over and over again.

Sighing, Thalia rounded first on her cousin. “Cabin. Now.” Recognizing her ‘Do Not Argue’ tone, he scowled but went. Then Thalia turned to fully face Clarisse, bracelets sparking to add a bit of extra emphasis on the whole I am bigger and meaner and WILL kick your ass thing. “Don’t give me that ‘everyone knows’ bullshit, the whole reason this is a problem is because we don’t know, so quit fucking pointing fingers.”
