Summary
Forficule shuddered. If he made it clear that Twig was not relevant to the plan, perhaps the youth would be left in peace. “He is not to accompany the pirates on this particular trip,” he said. “He is to stay with Mother Horsef-”
Vilnix cut him short. “There is something you’re not telling me,” he said, and raised the pincers threateningly.
Forficule looked down. Tears welled up in his eyes. He was not a bad creature - but neither was he brave. “He... he is...” he faltered. “That is... Cloud Wolf is his father.”
Vilnix breathed in sharply. “A son,” he hissed. “Quintinius Verginix has a son. And he has left him behind,” he smirked. “How very careless.”

Summary
“What are you doing,” Thalia demanded, arms flung out to either side, forcing a furious Clarisse and indignant Percy apart.
“She started it,” the twerp immediately protested, a split second before the Daughter of Ares snarled, “Everyone knows this is his fault-”
Great. More Master Bolt Bullshit. Because the week was off to such a great start already.
Sighing, Thalia rounded first on her cousin. “Cabin. Now.” Recognizing her ‘Do Not Argue’ tone, he scowled but went. Then Thalia turned to fully face Clarisse, bracelets sparking to add a bit of extra emphasis on the whole I am bigger and meaner and WILL kick your ass thing. “Don’t give me that ‘everyone knows’ bullshit, the whole reason this is a problem is because we don’t know, so quit fucking pointing fingers.”

Summary
“My new granddaughter!” Garp booms upon their arrival at Dawn Island, perhaps a week later, and if it weren’t for years of carefully practicing her stoic expressions, Robin's jaw would have dropped out of pure shock. “Gonna take her up the mountain this morning, but figured you wouldn’t mind sharing breakfast with us, Emi!”
“One does not simply share a meal with you, Garp,” the stern-faced woman in front of them states. “Besides which, it isn’t even six o’clock in the damn morning. I haven’t put the kettle on yet, let alone started making breakfast!” Her words only make the Vice Admiral laugh, though, and soon enough he and Robin are seated at the counter of a clean and rather pleasant looking bar.

Summary
Sabo’s heart might just be about to pound right out of his chest.
Bad enough he wasted three days in a stupid nap, his head rearranging itself to finally after all these years let him recall who he was and where he came from and exactly who he left behind-
Now, NOW, there is nothing else to be done but wait here, quivering, staring at the spot where just a few moments before had stood the ghost of Gol D. Roger.

Summary
Zoro really isn’t sure how his day went from defeating just another bounty to nearly getting his head taken off by a snarling fish, and at this point he’s too tired to bother asking. But here he is, crouched in a corner of the main hold of this crummy little ship, swords sheathed and hands held palm-out as he tries to calm down the merman thoroughly secured to the far wall.

Summary
As the evening kept growing darker, they left the thinning marketplace crowd behind on the way back home. Kokoro did her best to maintain a light-hearted conversation, but Iceburg just couldn’t keep up his side of it, too annoyed by stupid Franky scoffing when asked to carry a basket of fruits and then taking off on his own. Brat didn’t even know the streets all that well yet - and if he got lost somewhere on the way, inevitably Iceburg would be the one Tom sent back out to find the twerp. Probably alongside Yokozuna, just because it was dumb to walk the streets alone after dark, but still-
Someone shouted.
Not nearby. Down an alley, just as Iceburg and Kokoro happened to be walking past, and the echo hit his ear. “Ow! You little-”
“Let me go!”
Franky.

Summary
Without any further information before Alfred dropped the call, Bruce spent the entire drive in a state of barely-controlled panic. Eleven and a half minutes, from the streets of Gotham proper back across the river into Bristol, from deserted roads down into the Cave entrance. Eleven and a half minutes. He couldn’t have said what, precisely, he expected to find on the far end, but it certainly couldn’t be anything good.
Certainly not a child.
“Helena Martha Wayne,” Alfred informed him softly, when he stopped Bruce a good ten steps away from the computer and the girl sitting huddled and miserable in the chair. “She claims to be from another universe.”

Summary
She does not like being reminded of her history. Of being chained, and branded, forced to suffer for the pleasure of others. She especially does not like being reminded of feeling helpless to protect her sisters, suffering alongside in the same hell.
All of which is to say, when Hancock kicks down a heavy locked door, and finds herself staring down at a child holding himself braced in front of two others, her stomach swoops unpleasantly.

Summary
"Chopper! Come look at this!”
“Coming!” He chirps, hopping out of the tall canvas tent, and hurrying over to where Doctor Hiriluk kneels at the edge of the river where they’ve made their camp for the night. “What is-?”
“Shh,” his mentor shushes, grinning as he gestures to something on the opposite bank. “Look there!”
Chopper looks. It takes a moment, but then he registers movement, an indistinct shape of green and brown flickering through the trees. A large indistinct shape. “What is that, Doctor?”
“A banderbear,” his mentor whispers, still grinning. “One of the rarest sights to be found in the Deepwoods."

“Percy!” Grover yelled, just as something rippled and shoved. He didn’t physically touch her, but Nan’ci still went flying. Straight into the nearest fountain.
“Ah,” a voice behind him said, just as a durasteel-strong grip came down on his shoulder. “There you are.”

Summary
Eventually, right about the time they’re leaping over rooftops in Edgetown, Sabo gets ahold of himself enough to explain, all of it, starting with his shitty noble father showing up, agreeing to go with him to protect Ace and Luffy, but then the Bluejam crew keeping them as Sabo walked away and now there’s going to be a fire and he doesn’t know where his brothers are doesn’t know if they’re safe or okay or what-
“We’ll find ‘em, brat,” Garp rumbles, his grim tone somehow reassuring. “And then we’ll get all three of you back on the mountain, where you’ll be safe. Where you belong.”

Summary
“Yohohoho!” And there is Brook, hopping carefully down a pile of trash towards Jinbei, waving a hand back and forth in front of his face. “Ahh, this is a moment I dearly regret my lack of a nose - if only so I could pinch it shut until we find a way out of this place!”
Jinbei frowns, his Observation Haki spreading like ink in water. “Is it truly so large?”
“Miles of detritus, my friend! I could spy mountainous jungles to the south of us, but otherwise, there is only-” Brook’s foot goes straight through an old wagon he attempts to use as his final step to the ground, and the skeleton’s arms spin in circles for a moment before he topples forward. Thankfully Jinbei moves quickly enough to catch his crewmate, and Brook makes a beleaguered noise once both his feet are again upon solid ground. “-ah, trash.”

Garp can feel it, the moment he’s abruptly not in control anymore.
He’s still there, still able to watch as the black tendrils pull away from his body, able to feel it as his feet hit the ground and stick the landing. But his face doesn’t twitch out of the too-wide grin, even as he sputters inside his head, tries to protest whatever the hell is going on-

Summary
“Fuck,” is all Ace can say, when they’re finally left alone in a literal frozen hell.
“S’cold,” Luffy complains, slumping against him, and Ace automatically tries to hug the twelve year old. The chains binding his arms makes it a little trickier than usual, but he manages it, tries to tuck Luffy as much under his torn shirt as possible. They’ve gone through plenty of winters back on Dawn with decent snowfall, but apparently the Fifth Level of Impel Down is way worse.

Roger isn’t sure what he’s seeing, not at first. Bunch of dead marines, yeah, okay, made sense for an island that’s turned into an active warzone. Garp kneeling down in the middle of them? Crying? Didn’t make any damn sense.
It isn’t until he’s taken a few steps forward that Roger clocks how young these particular dead marines look, and then a bad feeling sets up shop in his gut.

Summary
“Excellent job out there tonight,” Nami starts talking as she walks backwards with perfect confidence, attention seemingly glued to her phone as she swipes through different pages. “Even though you were four minutes late, the rest of the show went off without a hitch, and our numbers are climbing through the roof-”
“Those bonus special effects with your entrance, though, those were amazing,” one of the tech crew gushes, hustling along with the crowded cluster of people. “I did not know we had wires set up for an aerial stunt, and that demon hologram! Who blew up into confetti-!”
“Right!” Someone else yelps, and then there’s a dark-skinned young man wiggling his way into the middle of things, grinning a little too wide and juggling half a dozen items in his arms. “Super special effects! Just another couple of tricks up the Great Usopp’s sleeve!”
“You don’t wear sleeves,” all three ASL brothers promptly state, which makes their friend scowl and Luffy break out into peals of laughter.
