Mek flinched. Only a little. Not rejection, not discomfort, just surprise. Dech noticed. He drew his hand back, not wanting to crowd him.
“I made it for you,” he said.
Mek didn’t take it off. He simply sat there, in this field, his kingdom of wildflowers, with the setting sun casting a golden light on him and his crown.
Before Dech could hold them back, the words escaped him. “You’re beautiful.”

Fang froze. His brain didn’t have a script for that. No snarky reply, no sarcastic shield. Just... static.
“What?”
Tan leaned one shoulder against the column next to him. “I asked if I make you nervous.”
The words didn’t feel sharp. They weren’t flirty, not really. They were, as everything was about Tan, exactly what you saw on the surface - transparent, honest, light. Curious, maybe.
Fang forced a shrug. “Why would you say that?”
“You’re being... weird.”

Aou was now sitting at table 10. Close enough to hear him laugh again. Close enough to make Boom’s brain short-circuit when he crossed one leg over the other and leaned in with his chin in his hand like he was modeling for a magazine.
He absolutely should not be this interested. He came here to prove a point. To show his friends that dating was a rigged game and Boom had no tokens left to spend. But now he had found someone who seemed... genuinely too good to be here.
People like that don’t go to some speed dating event unless they’re collecting souls. Still. He snuck another glance.

Rome didn’t respond. Just adjusted his headphones and leaned slightly into the controls, face dipped in cool white light. It wasn’t that Rome wasn’t interested. It was that he thought he knew better. Like Raffy was some lost puppy with abandonment issues. Like he was sloppy seconds waiting to happen.
Fuck that.
He pushed off the wall, tugged at the collar of his shirt, popped open another button, adjusted the fall of his chain.
If Rome wanted to pretend he wasn’t looking, Raffy would give him something to look at.

“Why do I look like you?” Boom demanded, gesturing wildly to his - Aou’s - face.
“Why do I sound like you?” Aou said, staring down at his - no, Boom’s - legs in Boom’s favorite navy shorts.
Boom pointed to Aou’s reflection. “That’s my body.”
Aou nodded slowly. “That’s my body.”
Silence.
Then they both shrieked.

“You colour-coded my exes,” Fuse said, holding the folder like it might bite him.
“I grouped them by psychological weakness,” Aou replied, utterly serious. “Blue is insecurity. Yellow is jealousy. Red is ego. I don’t waste time.”
Fuse blinked. “You’re terrifying.”
Aou sipped his coffee. “Thank you.”

“There is a child in my home.”
“...What?”
“A little girl. She walked in. She called me Papa. She’s dressed like Ceri. She said she is Ceri. There’s like… very convincingly photoshopped pictures of us with her in my living room. She’s asking for toast.”
“Is this a prank?” Boom asked, his voice suddenly clearer.
“That’s what I’m asking you. Did you set this up?”
There was rustling. Boom was moving. “You’re serious?”
Out of the corner of his eye he saw the girl stumble hastily down the hallway towards the bathroom.
“Wait- hey- where are you going?”
“To brush teeth,” she said without looking back. “My toothbrush is purple. Like grapes. Daddy said that’s your favorite color but he’s wrong. Your favorite color is black.”
She vanished into the bathroom. Aou stood in the middle of his living room, the silence ringing like a high-pitched whine. His heartbeat climbed - not in panic, but something more unstable. Boom’s voice through the phone pulled him back to reality.
“I’m coming over.”
OR: Ceri may or may not suddenly be a Real Human Girl showing up on her Papa's doorstep!

Aou stood up again. “I wasn’t planning to. You think I’ve got time to go spilling your secrets for fun?”
“I think you could,” Fuse muttered. “Out of spite.”
“I’m spiteful,” Aou said. “Not evil. Come on.”
Fuse frowned. “Come on what?”
“Get your stuff,” Aou said, already turning around. “You can crash at mine.”
Fuse blinked. “What?”
“Don’t make me change my mind.”
OR: Rich boy Fuse's family goes broke. Naturally, Aou takes him in (begrudgingly) and teaches him how to make it as a broke person.

“I do,” Klao said. “I know exactly what this is. It’s me, showing up again and again, and you letting me in just long enough to either get fucked or fuck with my head, then freezing me out before I can say anything that matters.”
“You don’t say anything that matters,” Warich shot back, voice rising now. “You say you’re angry, you say I’m selfish, you say the same shit every time and none of it actually means anything.”
“It means I want you,” Klao said simply.
Warich leaned back against the counter, arms folded, face hard. “You don’t want me. You want to own me. There’s a difference.”
