Warriors flashes the Captain’s Smile™, squares his shoulders, and steps forward with easy grace. This is routine. He’s good at this. A charming greeting, a little warmth, a compliment, and maybe she’ll offer a small discount if she’s feeling generous.
He opens his mouth.
He steps forward, radiating charm.
“Afternoon, miss,” he says warmly. Or tries to.
Because what comes out of his mouth is not that. “What an incredibly repugnant woman! But if I flirt perhaps she'll discount that red potion by a few rupees.”

Wind waves cheerfully.
Legend whispers, “Better than ‘and assorted urchins.’”
Warriors breathes deep, puts on the Captain’s Smile™, and walks into the throne room as though nothing in the world could possibly go wrong.
Which, in hindsight, is probably where he tempts fate.

A fairy placed a tiny flower crown on Legend’s head. Warriors let out a soft, reverent gasp.
“He fought with such spirit!” Warriors murmured, voice trembling with melodrama. “And now he is fallen. Taken by the gentle but relentless hands of moisturisation.”
Twilight stared at him. “You’re acting like he’s dead.”
“He may never recover from this.”
Or: A Great Fairy forces The Chain into a realm of restfulness. This does not go well.

Sky’s eyes light up immediately. “Oh?”
Warriors chuckles. “Relax. It’s not a trap.”
“Everything you say that about turns out to be a trap.” Legend mutters.
Warriors ignores him. “She’s… important to me. I figured it was about time.”
Four lifts an eyebrow. “Important how?”
Warriors slows just enough to walk backward for a step, pointing at them theatrically. “My girlfriend.”

Warriors gestures with the shovel like he’s conducting an orchestra of despair. “Fair treatment. Reasonable expectations. The right to not dig a sewage trench while sobbing.”
Four’s mouth twitches with amusement. “You were sobbing?”
“That’s not the point.”
“Get back to your task.” Four says.
Warriors leans in, unblinking. “Do you know what Time did today.”
Four deadpans. “Assigned chores.”
“He weaponised competence.” Warriors hisses. “He punished skill. He saw us as mere tools. Cogs in the machine my friend!”
Or: Time creates a chore rota, naturally Warriors unionises.

Summary
Sky carries the Master Sword like a blessing, Time carries it like a wound. Four sees a legend in the First Hero. Time sees a reminder of everything he resents. It would be easier if Sky weren’t so good.
Four is small and quiet. Balanced in a way that feels earned, not gifted. Brave without fanfare. Clever without cruelty. Human enough that Time sometimes forgets he had ever put him on a pedestal, until moments like this, when The Hero of Men looks at Sky like Sky belongs on the pedestal instead.
Time tells himself it doesn’t matter.
He tells himself it’s natural. Sky is senior. Sky is origin. Sky is the first king and the first hero and the first wielder of the blade that has crawled its way into every century like a parasite disguised as salvation. Of course Four would admire him. Time keeps his eyes on the trees. He keeps his breathing even. He keeps his face neutral. Inside, something small and ugly stirs.
